We went last week of January ...we were not sure quite what to expect as we'd read mixed reviews. But one thing we wanted was a beach front hotel and that did not disappoint. It is after all a 3 star resort so expectations were not too high. We did find the beds rock hard but what a world of difference the foamies made. The wing facing away from the pool was way quieter and the rooms in the upper floors are better if you don't want to be disturbed by loud music & chatter. We were not willing to pay the $35/day upgrade to the ocean view room but from the peek we had in it, the rooms are a bit larger. Re: food, breakfast and the snack bar were good - excellent omelettes, fresh juice, pancakes. The snack bar had burgers and fries, hotdogs and breaded chicken which were quite nice. Here, the food comes piping hot. There is more mexican cuisine at lunch and dinner. The staff are v. friendly, honest and helpful and so are the activities staff - v. energetic and enthusiastic. The nightly entertainment was ok. Good location especially for first timers, as close to downtown/Malecon..the bus stop is just outside the resort and walking distance to Mega Mart where you can buy fresh fruit. Take a bus from the opposite side (Blockbuster) and you can reach Walmart in another 10-15 min. For those who want to attend a church service on Sunday, there is a l'l place just at the entrance called Calvary chapel that has a service Sundays 10am (both Spanish and English).
