“first trip”

We went last week of January ...we were not sure quite what to expect as we'd read mixed reviews. But one thing we wanted was a beach front hotel and that did not disappoint. It is after all a 3 star resort so expectations were not too high. We did find the beds rock hard but what a world of difference the foamies made. The wing facing away from the pool was way quieter and the rooms in the upper floors are better if you don't want to be disturbed by loud music & chatter. We were not willing to pay the $35/day upgrade to the ocean view room but from the peek we had in it, the rooms are a bit larger. Re: food, breakfast and the snack bar were good - excellent omelettes, fresh juice, pancakes. The snack bar had burgers and fries, hotdogs and breaded chicken which were quite nice. Here, the food comes piping hot. There is more mexican cuisine at lunch and dinner. The staff are v. friendly, honest and helpful and so are the activities staff - v. energetic and enthusiastic. The nightly entertainment was ok. Good location especially for first timers, as close to downtown/Malecon..the bus stop is just outside the resort and walking distance to Mega Mart where you can buy fresh fruit. Take a bus from the opposite side (Blockbuster) and you can reach Walmart in another 10-15 min. For those who want to attend a church service on Sunday, there is a l'l place just at the entrance called Calvary chapel that has a service Sundays 10am (both Spanish and English).

“Great staff!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Six of us stayed Jan 29th through Feb 5th and had a great time! The staff are great...thank you Manuel, David and Guadeloupe you are the best!
Las Palmas is an older hotel in a great location..rooms are old beds are hard hot water is rare and if you want a chair by the pool or under one of 10 palapas on the beach you had better get up at 5 am and fight with all the others....biggest complaint is there was not enough chairs for everyone!
You won't go hungry but the one buffet had little selection and got very boring. The snack bar was only open 2 times in the week we were there...we knew we were going to eat meals in town anyway to try some of the great restaurants that we had cased out from our last trip to PV...and they did not disappoint.
All in all we got what we paid for,
the trip was fun with lots of sun and drink and the hotel staff are the best!

“Not Bad”

We arrived at noon and got our room right away. The room was bright and clean.
The beds were like the Flinstones beds-hard as a rock. My ribs ached everyday.
The staff were friendly. The food was recyled-three nights in a row with pork stew.
The breakfasts were great, as well as lunch at the snack bar (which doubles as the
A La Carte at night, which was an awesome meal).
There were alot of Mexicans staying there, who pretty much took over the activities
pool. They're there on time share tours.
The adult pool was a nice break from all the noise at the larger pool. We had to get up
at 6:30 am to get a chair at the adult pool.
Overall the trip was great!

Room Tip: Pay extra before you go for an ocean view.

“slept on launge chairs the first night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We left Regina at 11:00 pm arrived at LosPalmos at 5:am checked in right away only to be told that our room would not be ready until 3:00pm. WE were all tired no place to sleep so we found lounge chairs by the pool. It was very cold. My husband found us some towels to cover up with. There were about ten of us around the pool. The rest were in the lobby. When you arrive at 5am, tired and hungry you expect a bed. The food was boring . Porkchops three days in a row, chickin legs four out of six days. Hotel was clean, workers vey nice, location great. One more thing if you are not up by 6am forget about getting a chair by the pools or the ocean, they are claimed with towel and the left empty for most of the day. NOT FAIR

Room Tip: do not pick a room by the lobby or stage very loud ocean view very beautiful

“3rd time was great - going back for my 4th”

Once again a wonderful trip. Las Palmas is not too far from all of the action in the Malecon and just far away enough to be quiet at night. Manuel is still an amazing bartender as are David and Carmen. They put us up on the 4th floor with an ocean view and a rom with softer mattress. Business seemed to be a little quieter this year but it is everywhere. Beds are still hard as a rock butEasy to meet people from all over Canada and the U.S. and some locals from the nearby city of Guadalajara. Plenty to eat, drink and things to crash on. Good Job to the very friendly and patient staff dealing with [--] drunk tourists such as myself. Love ya guys!!!! Will be back.
