We split our stay in PV between the Sheraton Buganvilias (I rated 3 stars) and the Westin. The Westin is in the Marina area closer to the airport and further from Old Town/Malecon - about 10-15min by cab and costs 100MXN (currently about $8USD). I travel a fair bit, so maybe that makes me more picky, but overall we liked this hotel a lot better, the room, bar, pools, everything were definitely a step or two above the Sheraton, and the rate was only $10/night more - well worth it. The Marina area is also a very nice place to walk around, grab drinks/meal too, more sedate than the busy town. I would definitely stay here on future PV visits, and just taxi into town when as desired.

Having ended up at the Westin Puerto Vallarta on a whim when circumstances kept us from our original plans in Costa Rica, I was extremely pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Puerto Vallarta, and the Westin hotel stay was excellent.

Shout outs to Noe (bartender) and Juan (server at breakfast) for their stellar service. These gentleman remembered details about us and our likes that went above and beyond. In fact, all the hotel employees were so friendly and seemed to genuinely care that we had a good stay. We went all-inclusive, and felt we received a very good deal. The food was above average, although we only ate dinner at the hotel one night. We did eat breakfast and many lunches there, and consumed a lot of beverages!

The town was a fairly short cab ride away; about 15 - 20 minutes but only 80 pesos (which was about 8 dollars). The restaurants in town were great! The scene gets going after midnight, so I didn't experience too much of it. There are a lot of restaurants and bars in the marina area too, so that was a nice option as well.

Overall, the Westin Puerto Vallarta exceeded my expectations and left me with a very favorable opinion of the city. And all of the locals were great too!

It was a very nice stay we have nothing to complain about. Everything we needed we received. The workout facility was very nice, the Spa was great. The only thing and not a complaint but we wished they would of had a few more workout classses just Yoga at 8:00 AM on T &T, Mexico made us too lazy to get up for those. We did the Beach Club upgrade and ate breakfast and dinner there all but one night, Angel ( the man who will get you any thing you want almost) is great and remembers your name after the first day.

Met alot of freindly people and had a great time and by the way if you want the mini bar open just ask the front desk they send someone up to open it. They said they had no more keys, hey it's Mexico

This hotel has everything you would expect from a Westin, comfy bed, nice bathrooms,and good service. All of the food and drinks were good. All of the staff we encountered was friendly and very accommodating, the only minor complaint is maid service was a little spotty with getting us the correct number of towels in our room everyday. As others have mentioned the pool and beach areas are very nice with no problem finding loungers, in addition they have beds by the beach at no additional cost which we utilized almost everyday during our stay.

The only caution I will throw out there is we utilized their All Inclusive plan which worked out fine for us, but may not be for everyone. They now only have one operating restaurant for dinner (room service is also included), which while good, has a limited menu. This was not a problem for us because we used the AI plan mostly for breakfast and drinks and snacks by the pool/beach and went out for dinner most nights. If you are looking for an All Inclusive hotel where you don't want to leave the property, this may not be the place for you. Overall I would recommend the Westin for an enjoyable stay in PV.
