“Amazing service, Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I went down to Puerto Vallarta in March of 2011 and stayed at the Buenaventura resort hotel.
The location was top-notch - perhaps more suited for people who wanted to walk around and see some of the great attractions of PV while being fairly close to downtown and some more of the Mexican culture there as well.
The service was great - except for one older man at the front desk who was very rude. Made a point at the time to remember the name, but it's been a while and it has slipped my mind.
Every bartender, server, cleaning staff, etc. were all hard-working people who aimed to please. Always smiling, and not trying to scam or annoy you to get that extra buck.

The fridges could have been stocked a little better (only a few Tecate cans of beer and some water each day) - but room service was very fast, and only a phone call away, where you could order whatever you wanted. So no issue.

Poolside bar had the best service and Mexican night at the buffet was the best food. Brazilian restaurant was okay - although the range in meat was surprising (salmon and chicken to start.. which was nice... but then a chopped up hot dog eventually came, which was more funny than anything).

Malecon was very close - perhaps a 5-10 minute walk, although the beach at this particular resort was very small and empty. However, in Puerto Vallarta there is so much to do, especially in this area, that this was a non-issue.

Overall, a great value, with great food and exceptional service.

“Fantastic vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We had a fabulous time--older hotel but all the best facilities.service was the absolute best
(have been to 5 star and they can't compare) The staff is so friendly and accommodating, it's hard to to describe!! The cleanliness of the hotel and grounds are #1. My husband & I are 80 and didn't partake in a lot of activities (he went parasailing for the first time--fantastic) but walked to the Malacon daily and enjoyed it all. We were there 15 days and felt like family!! Will be back very soon--God willing!! Please post pics of your city beautification in front, should be fantastic when finished!!

“Very accommodating”

My 81 year young, slightly handicapped mom and myself spent a week here. I wasn't sure what to expect but it truly exceeding what I imagined. The staff throughout the hotel were nice, helpful and often very attentive and always accommodating. They had some evening entertainment which was delightful. Our room was clean, service every day, the food had good variety and was delicious!! We could get food at any time without question or effort. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who prefers to be within walking distance to the malacon and downtown walking area. The hotel is not impressive from the street but once inside, it sparkles with smiles and chuckles and excellent service. We booked as an all inclusive tour so we are unaware of pricing but we certainly were happy with our cost.

Room Tip: Garden side is away from the noise and quiet but not so beautiful on the balconies.

“Beautiful Location, Great Service!”

We just spent a glorious week in Puerto Vallarta. We enjoyed every aspect of this hotel. Located right on the beach and in the older part of Puerto Vallarta, we were a short walk away from the Malecon where there were numerous shops, bars and restaurants.

“The People Made Our Stay”

This hotel is a short taxi ride from the airport at a central location not far from the Malecon. On arrival, the hotel on the outside is not overly welcoming, but the inside has catherdral ceilings and lots of light. Check in was simple and the bell hops were attentive. One complaint I did have was that there were not enough safe keys available. I value secuirty very highly, but since it was only until noon the next day so it was not a huge inconvenience.

The hotel itself is not brand new, but it has all the standard hotel ammenites. The room was decent with nothing stained and was cleaned and restocked with towels at least once daily. The cabana area has a bar, resturant, pools and activity area. This leads out to the sand where you can relax under a hut on a sunchair. You will be swarmed with vendors, but remember that you are in their city and you are the rich Canadian/American/European who paid more for a nights stay at the hotel than they make in a month. Politley say no or just ignore the repeat offenders. I went swimming in the ocean despite the rough waves which scared some people. You can parasail or go on the banana boat on the beach in addition to the activities offered at the hotel so there is always something to do.

The staff was attentive and overall wonderful to us at all times. They worked day and night to serve and make sure your drink is full, even if you are ordering 5:00 club sandwiches and cheeseburgers! Speaking of food, for the most part it was good. The mexican dishes were yummy and like in all of Mexico and most foreign countries, the "American" dishes aren't quite like home. However, the was always fresh omlettes at breakfast, fresh fruit and veggies as well as a number of dishes to choose from at each meal. If I could make only one more suggestion, perhaps a bit better quality alcohol stocked at the bar.

This isn't the "youngest" hotel, nor the biggest party atmosphere but seemed like a hit with Mexican families as well as my large group which included family, wedding guest and wedding party members. We felt welcomed, safe, respected and had a relaxing time which we can in part owe to the kind people at the Buenaventura.
