The suites are still a great value as the rooms are roomy and the kitchenette allows you to prepare morning coffee while your partner wakes up and showers.
The all-inclusive food was "good" to "very good" with a broad selection at each meal. There is a good mixture of dishes during each week - there are three special nights: BBQ, Italian, Mexican. Even on the four other nights there is daily variation so meal boredom does not set in. In addition to the normal buffet selection, the hotel provides vouchers -- a "BBQ" dinner one for those staying for at least 4 days and a "speciality" dinner one for those staying for 7 days. The BBQ dinner menu is short and the meals are just OK -- BUT the speciality dinners are excellent (be sure to try the endive salad). Both presentation and the meal itself are top quality.
For those wanting a daily dose of gringo food they have a great "snack" bar with hamburgers hotdogs fries, etc. that is open all afternoon.
The drinks are great but, oddly, the hotel seems to restrict the all-inclusive people to only a couple of local beers - while we were there the selection was Tecate and Indio. An odd practice.
Service from all staff - reservations, front desk, busboys, maid, waiters, bar staff, restaurant greeters, buffet cooks, beach chair/towel service, entertainers, etc was great and all were friendly to us throughout our trip.
If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing hotel with a good mix of gringos and nationals and a mix of young families and older couples I highly recommend the Los Arcos properties.
Room Tip: Upper floors and junior suites overlooking the pool area are the quietest
