Enjoyed our stay here in a huge room with 2 doubles and a single, was a little noisy however turning on the fan and shutting windows fixed that. We prepaid our room and the staff wanted us to sign the credit card voucher was a bit ify about this and showed them my creditcard statement of proof of payment, they said there boss wanted it done, never did it and wasnt asked again, probably was OK but being Mexico? Anyhow the place was clean, a request by the hotel for a maid tip seemed strange for a hotel? We didnt mind as we thought they probably dont get much.
Stayed in Posada Roger last time and found the rooms here were much cleaner.

Friends and I traveled to Puerto Vallarta for New Year's Eve. We all chose to stay at the Belmar again. This was my 3rd time to stay there and I fell in love with it even more than before. I'm already booked to stay there again in April! The Belmar is the only hotel I consider now when I visit Puerto Vallarta. The owner, Maria, is the sweetest lady and all of her staff are so friendly and welcoming. I've never been so warmly welcomed or received such personal service at any other hotel anywhere else in the world.

The artwork throughout the entire hotel is a really nice touch. I always enjoy visiting each floor to see what new artwork has been added since my last visit. It's like my own private art gallery.

As other reviewers have mentioned, there can be a lot of street noise, but ear plugs work fine for most people. You can also request a room off the main street when you make your reservation. The hotel provides filtered water on each floor, which is a really nice thing to have in Mexico.

If you're looking for a basic, spotlessly clean, comfortable, centrally located hotel in downtown Puerto Vallarta, the Hotel Belmar is absolutely perfect! It is my favorite hotel in PV. For the price and the location, the Belmar can't be beat!

I stayed there for US$25.00 per night through PriceTraveDotCom, 25% lower than their walk-in rate of MX$400.00. What makes this hotel special is first the staff - wonderful, friendly, helpful and kind people, second the really evocative artwork throught the hotel, but especially the pieces opposite the front desk. Room and shower were small but very clean - good firm bed and hot high-pressure shower. Noise is an issue if you stay in one of the front rooms with a balcony with partial sea-view, but can be easily remedied with a good set of earplugs. I will come back here again but pay an extra MX$100.00 pesos for a front double room so as to have more space. I would not recommend room 28, however - shower too small.

I had some trouble finding it especially since I took the bus into town from the airport. Its in the old town part of PVR. No complaints since this is exactly what I was looking for. However, once I did find it, the staff was very helpful. The room itself was small but neat and tidy and bright. I requested a room away from the road and got one since it gets pretty noisy.
The staff was super helpful and gave me some great recommendations for restaurants where the locals go. Just ask away and they are full of info (restaurants, buses etc..). Some of the attendants have rudimentary english skills. Worked great with my rudimentary spanish skills. One computer in the lobby for free with internet access. Very close to the Malecon, shopping areas and all the good restaurants.
