I was only needing a place to sleep since I would be out on business all day and didn't want to pay for bells and whistles I wouldn't use. Vallarta Sun was perfect! They do have all the amenities one expects to find in a nice upscale hostel as well as a very nice pool and sun deck. What I liked best: spotlessly clean, very friendly and helpful staff, and great location (one block from the beach and many good restaurants within a one block area) Oh yes, and all-night air conditioning which is badly needed in PV this time of year! My only negative is that the bed was too hard (for me) to be perfectly comfortable. Would I go there again, Yes!

A nice and clean hostel, only 1 1/2 blocks from the beach and 4 blocks from the party area. The owners Ricardo and his wife were very friendly and hospitable. I would describe them as delightful, helpful and having knowledge about interesting sights and how to get there. The rooms in the basement have no windows, but if you’ll leave the door open you can have some fresh air while sleeping. The rooms have their own badrooms, which is not common for hostels. There is also a comfortable kitchen and a ping-pong table. I definitely will stay there again!

Ok, so the air conditioner was a bit lame. But, as the rooms all come with a balcony and the breeze in March is cool enough, I can't complain. For an amazing price you are staying right in the heart of Old Town -and the friendliness is not to be outdone. The pool right in the courtyard is clean and well maintained with recliners all around. Ricardo the manager and his staff are informative and very friendly. Where in the US can you find a good,ice cold beer poolside for a buck? At the price charged for the room, it is anunbelievable find! Most guest that I talked to have been coming for years and rave just like me-about the location, price and all things considered. Only a few steps from a ton of good restaurants and a block or so from the ocean.

We felt great about our hotel stay. The pool wasn't heated but was great for cooling off during the day. I have to say I enjoyed the fact that the place was adults only. It was quiet and clean and friendly. The owner or manager was totally laid back but also very helpful. He gave us great suggestions for food. The location was excellent although the beach is terrible. We didn't go swimming even once. The city is revamping the Los Muertos Pier and they were jack hammering all day long. You couldn't hear a thing from the hotel; it was very peaceful. The room has fridge, coffee maker, microwave, sat tv etc. Everything you need. We were pool side and I was worried about noise but everything was quite. Our room at travertine tiles (spelling?) ceiling which was vaulted. I would come back here in a heart beat. Loved PV for a short stay. Restaurants are over priced but the local places rock. We ate delicious tacos (cows tongue and pork cheeks) roadside.

Our room was huge and comfortable. It's not luxurious by some standards but we found it luxurious compared to many of the backpacker places we've stayed at around the world.

I was worried that the hostel next door would be noisy but again the place was a little oasis!
