“Quiet gay friendly place to stay in Puerto Vallarta near all the action”

We reserved our room through Orbitz.com. I was a bit concerned about not having a room available, however, Mark, from Blue Seas stated they had a problem back in January and since corrected it, new compute system or somsething. When trying to verify our reservation with him, I received no second response as I was concerned about the Easter Holiday, Saturday night reservation. I contacted Orbitz and they did contact the resort directly to reconfirm our reservation. Orbitz provided me with their contact information if a room wasn't available. Orbitz stated if the hotel did not provide a room to me as check in, they must provide me with something of like, kind, and quality, or I assume another gay friendly the same area. Orbitz stated if I did not receive a room that met my requirements, I would need to contact them for resolution. After arriving the hotel,we all had rooms available. They asked my friends or I to move the following day, however, this was not a problem as they were moved to an ocean front room. Both our rooms were ocean front with a full size bed. These are not queen or king beds. However, me being 6ft 2, and a bit football build, it was not a problem sharing a bed. The rooms provided more space than a hotel rooms as they are condos. Rooms have a laundry on the pation behind a slider door that you pull open. The front desk lady stated there is not internet access available for the rooms, however, we were close to the router on the main floor, room 200 and did have internet available from the bedroom, but difficult from the kitchen which was not a problem. Full size fridge, stove, open kitchen/dininng, and GREAT water pressure in the shower. Our room was CLEAN. We had to ask the room be cleaned on the 2nd day, but after that our room was cleaned on a daily basis and I have no complaints about that. I only saw 2 insects the entire time, near an open window. Wonderful and clean room. I really enjoyed this place, however, I want internet in my room when staying. I also want to make sure I have room available when checking in. The pool was a bit cloudy during the weekend, however, it was near the busy busy holiday weekend. After 2 days, it was BLUE again for the remaining part of the week. This location is quiet and right next door to the Blue Chairs. It's really a 2-2.5 star, but in the gay world in Puerto Vallarta, I give it a 3 star. If you are peolpe that like to keep to your business and quiet places, here you go. If you like it loud, Blue chairs, if you like to meet people, Mercurio. Good luck! :)

Bait and Switch!!

My friends and I booked a 2 bedroom suite back in Dec. I called the hotel in Jan. to confirm the booking and also received an email on Feb 23rd confirming our booking. Arrived at the hotel on March 3, 2011 to be told the hotel was having a booking problem. The company doing the web booking and the hotel were separate companies and there were communication problems, so they didn't have our suite. Being the nice people they were, they were willing to put the three of us us up in a standard room at the Howard Johnson. I checked the H.J. room rate and it was $91 per night, our suite was $310 per night. They were happy to do a straight swap. After spending some time yelling at the Heather @ blueseaspuertovallarta.com we elected to go find ourselves another hotel. We picked Blue Seas hotel of it's location and we had no intention of staying in a H.J. away from the Romantica area of P.V. We were lucky to find other lodging and did get a full refund within 5 business days after I demanded the refund and a confirmation email within 2 hrs of leaving that hotel from Heather.

The fact that they knew about this and didn't tell us prior to our arrival, and the fact that they really didn't try to make it right, or compensate us for the mess they created, tells me this company is only out to scam people. On our reservation they would have made over $1,000 without providing any services, great racket!!! We asked how many others this had happened to and were told that week along quite a few. We will never book this hotel again.

This is my second review of Blue Seas and far different than my first. Our trip was a group of 6 friends. We booked our trip through Orbitz the beginning of December and we arrived in Puerto Vallarta on March 2nd. Orbitz provided all of us confirmation numbers for our flights and 3 rooms. When we arrived at Blue Seas around 4pm - Blue Seas had one (1 bedroom) room available - and told us that no other rooms were available. Blue Seas proceeded to tell us that Orbitz moved part of our group to Howard Johnson - 30 minutes away on the other side of the city. No communication was given to any of us of this change prior to our arrival. The situation declined into no side wanting to take responsibility. 4.5 hours later of being on the phone with Orbitz & managers (a day of vacation wasted) Orbitz finally moved the individuals to a hotel a few building away so that we all could at least be close to each other. It could be argued that Blue Seas overbooked (the staff at Blue Seas says this happens all the time - Blue Seas overbooking and not having rooms for confirmed guests) but shame on Orbitz for such poor customer service. This is a situation they should have resolved in minutes. I would never book at Blue Seas again and I would be uncomfortable in believing Orbitz would be of any assistance in the event of travel issues.

“Unless you crave insomnia- don't stay here!”

Situated right beside THE gay hotel (Blue Chairs) in PV, Blue Seas caters to two kinds of patrons: middle aged homosexuals and retirees who bought into timeshares before the resort became gay-friendly. Not a very kid-friendly resort and the beach scenery is...colorful.

The air conditioner didn't work properly and kept us up all night. The maid on our floor never came and cleaned, despite the sign being on the door. There was no internet in the room, you had to go to the courtyard to use the WI-FI. There were ants all over the kitchen and you had to keep all of your food in the fridge. To get to the spa and restaurant you had to go down to the basement and across the alley, and you had to pay cash or credit, you couldn't charge to your room. There were two gates, one at each entrance, and they were supposed to have a guard, but they were often unattended- also you could pick the lock with any key. The bed was as hard as a rock and you could feel every spring, but the icing on the cake were all the bug bites we got...very possibly bed bugs.

We showed up to this resort yesterday and were told that, though we made a reservation 4 months ago, the room was taken and the resort was overbooked. They offered us a room at the Howard Johnson BY THE AIRPORT, or a refund. Worst part - they knew about the overbook days before we even arrived.
