“Macaws Bar and Café”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

After a fifteen day stay four years ago at Casa De Leyendas, we bought our own little piece of heaven in Mazatlan. Sharon and Glen helped us see the magic in this city and they continue to do so with their high quality Bar and Cafe, Macaws. While visiting in December we drove down to Old Town numerous times and our first stop was always Macaws. If you want to find out what is going on in the city, this is the place to ask.

One evening it struck me how special this little Cafe is! A wonderful jazz trio was playing, the food was excellent (as usual), the service impeccable, and the place filled with very happy people. It just felt great to be there and then I realized it was because of the special talents of the owners and their staffs that are always on hand to make sure things are right! Well, they are right and I want to thank you for continuing to be the cultural ambassadors for these Canadians every time we arrive "home". Looking forward to seeing you all again to enjoy the art, food, company, and great times!

“Millar Family-Jan 2012-Thank you Casa De Leyendas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We stayed as a large family at Casa De Leyendas for a week between 4th-11th Jan 2012 and rented the whole B&B for the week. The B&B is immaculate and a great base from which to explore Mazatlan. The breakfasts (which were included), the staff and accommodation were all top notch and we were made to feel very much at home. Glen and Sharon are very good hosts and worked tirelessly to assisit with any activities we wished to do as well as arranging transfers and recommending restaurants etc. I would highly recommend this B&B to anybody visiting the Mazatlan region. Thanks again!

“Great location and friendly hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

A few blocks from the main plaza (not the zocalo) with restaurants and shows, a block from the long malecon and ocean - that I enjoyed even in December; I didn't feel under-towed and the waves were reasonable.
Hosts were helpful whenever you needed a piece of information.
All rooms are very beautiful with Mexican decoration - the web site is well made to help you choose which one. Many spacious common areas to feel like at home.
Breakfast on weekends is incredibly good, all kinds of variations of Eggs Benedict.
So why not rate it excellent? Well I am a tea drinker and was a bit forgotten there. None in the bedroom (but plenty of coffee), at breakfast there was no sachets (bags) nor hot water (but plenty of coffee). I had to ask and they served it with the bag (of what kind?) already inside - for how long? - well resulted in brewed too strong. So some tea etiquette needed to match the high quality of everything else.
Would come back in a heart beat.

Room Tip: Check the web site for different styles. We choose the most expensive one ($109USD when other are at...

“comfortable,relaxed,perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Let me preface this by first of all stating that I don't always care for B&B's...I don't really eat a big breakfast and I don't like the overly fussy-doily ridden-like you are staying at some distant super particular relative's house quality they can have, however, I'm getting to the age let's say that I like some comforts and I always appreciate a clean artsy interior- My husband and I with two other family members stayed at Casa De Leyendas for Christmas eve and Christmas night. Glen and Sharon were the perfect hosts-they have that very unusual gift of being able to be of service to their guests in a way that seems effortless and natural. (just one example: we were playing music in the living room and talking about how we'd forgotten a songbook with the xmas carols in it, and right at that exact moment Glen appeared with xmas songbooks!) The food was wonderful, the beds are in fact really comfortable-just the right amount of solitude and togetherness. We were treated like family from the moment we walked in the door-and I mean that in a GOOD way. if you want a place to stay with a group or by yourself, this is a really great place. If you've never been to Mazatlan or Mexico this would be a fantastic place to begin as your hosts can tell you anything you might want to know and help you get to know a historic and interesting part of the city. Just close enough to the beach but on a quieter street.

“Historic property, great food, well maintained”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

If you are looking for a quality property to eat in or stay at in Mazatlan's historic district, this is it! The owners are American, and live in the property and keep it neat as a pin. The restaurant/bar (Macaw's) is in the front of the hotel on the street and is the centerpiece of the B&B. Food is very high quality, and I would highly recommend the Chili.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are quieter because they are further away from the restaurant and common areas.
