“Excellent stay”

We recently stayed at the Fiesta Inn for two nights. The room was clean and the staff very friendly. The room had an excellent view of the beach. It looked like most of the rooms had beach views. No complaints about the room. The TV worked and had cable not that we spent much time watching it. Shower was fine. The beds were firm...maybe too much for some folks but fine for me. We were glad that there weren't many if any spring break students staying at the Inn. Hotels closer to town appeared to have lots. It was easy to get around downtown via the buses that came by. The pool area was really nice. It is on the small side and could get crowded if lots of folks picked it over the beach/ocean. The beach area was nice and there were an area sectioned off with beach chairs. It would be on the top of my list when going back. BTW, we got reservation via Expedia and had no problems checking in. Also, we got good exchange rates without commission at the front desk.

“Can't beat the price!”

Just returned from another great trip to Mazatlan! My wife and I go there about twice a year, and on this last trip, we stayed at the Fiesta Inn for our first time. I will say that we consider ourselves very experienced on Mexico travel. The things that we found ourselves pleasantly surprised with was how clean and uncrowded this hotel was. The grounds are clean, beautiful, and the pool is great. Additionally, this is the widest and cleanest area of beach in all of Mazatlan. The location of the hotel is on the northern end of the "golden zone," so there is less traffic, vendors and timeshare hecklers. Most of the people here were couples between 25-65 years old, with only a few children. The food is good, especially the breakfast buffet. The rooms are spacious and have a great ocean and sunset view. The beds are also the softest we have ever slept on anywhere in Mexico-but still a harder bed! The staff is friendly, and the only negative thing to say was that you had to wave to one of the staff if you were at the pool or snack bar to get service. Once they saw you, the were very polite and attentive, and brought your order quickly. This hotel should be bumped up a star at least, we have spent much more and received less than what the Fiesta Inn has to offer!

“Clean and great for the price!”

I went to Mazatlan on my own, so I couldn't afford anything too expensive. I didn't know what to expect for the price, I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of Fiesta Inn. I loved the location; all the rooms have oceanviews and every day it was just a short elevator ride and I was steps away from the beach. It was less crowded at this end of the beach since it isn't located right in heart of the Golden Zone, but I liked this about the hotel.

The Front Desk personnel were generally helpful. My only suggestion is if you would like to plan anything through the recreation desk, do it early in your trip since it doesn't seem that the desk is staffed regular hours. When I go back, I will definitely stay at the Fiesta Inn!

“Nice place for the price”

I staff at the front desk were nice and spoke english, same with some of the bellmen. The room was nice and had a nice view of the ocean. The beds were very hard and our toilet leaked. One afternoon we had no water and it came on but was a coffee color. We were told to let it run for a while and then it would clear up. For the most part it did but you could still see a little brown. The breakfast was good and we ate out at other places around town. The only problem was the service at breakfast the waiters were very slow and pretty much ignored us. They payed more attention to the Mexican people eating breakfast, talking with them and checking on them and then totally passing by us. The same happed with the service around the pool. The travel people down stairs were nice and we took the city tour, I would suggest doing that your first day to get to know the town. Our guide on the city tour, Bernice, was very nice and helpful, she took us to places we would not have otherwise gone, into a bakery and a little store inside someone's home. It is long but the time goes by pretty fast and they stop and let you out to shop or just look around.

“Our stay was 'surprising'!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2004

My girlfriend & I went to Mazatlan for the first time several years ago and stayed at the Fiesta since we both were tight for cash. The hotel lobby was nice and our room wasn't bad, although you had to stand on tiptoe at the corner of our balcony to see the ocean.First thing when we saw when we got to our room and opened the door was a gecko scurrying up the wall above one of the beds to get out of the "new" occupants' way! I was the courageous one who decided to take that bed. However, I dragged the bed out away from the walls so I wouldn't be surprised again by any creatures in the night. We kept the sliding door to our balcony wide open every night since there wasn't any air conditioning. Needless to say we both slept without the covers. We finally got used to the climate about our 3rd night, and I actually pulled up a sheet to stay warm in the middle of the night! We met a charming waiter in the restaurant who took us on a friendly city tour (his other job). The food and drinks were good, but we had so much more fun eating out at other locales. The disco down the way kept a heavy beat thumping 'til 2 a.m. or so every night, but we never got in before midnight ourselves and fell asleep out of sheer exhaustion; so the noise, though loud, wasn't too bothersome to keep us from sleep. It did have a tendency to make you go crazy if you chose to stick around the premises as we did one evening. We went to the seaside bar, which was pleasant and charming, although a drunk old man tried to pick us up (it didn't work, because he spoke no English and we faked speaking no Spanish except for the persistent "no, no, no!")We felt absolutely safe at the hotel because the people who live and work in Mazatlan want tourists to stay, so they go out of their way to cater to us. It's the tourists themselves who litter the beaches and commit crimes against other tourists (I found out that the staff and locals clean the beaches early every morning to remove litter the tourists leave behind, including unmentionables left after nighttime intimacy on the beach). The staff was helpful in booking our boat tour and giving us directions. Our room was clean and neat, though it didn't have any extras, except the occasional lizard. All in all, if you have no expectations of luxury, are adventurous and have very little money, the stay here will be fun and hassle-free.
