“How much time are you REALLY spending in the room?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2009

Ok, I'll admit, the room was definately outdated...however, my idea of a vacation involves spending as little time in the room as possible!! It was very clean, the AC worked and the shower ran hot water, what more could we need? We had the best service at the pool area and the beach area! Never had to wait for beachside service!! The location is great and so many activities are right there!! The food at the hotel restuarant (Camacho's) was pretty decent as well! Stay away from this hotel if you plan on hanging in your room and watching TV, but if you're up for some adventures, this is a great and affordable location!!!

“The Good, the Bad and the UGLY”

I stayed at the Mazatlan Balboa Towers this spring for three weeks. , I found the room old and stale, the drapes hung down in places and wouldn't close properly, the kitchenette had few necessities, I ended up buying a small fry pan, dish pan, dish cloths, soap, scrubber, and a kettle. the bathroom was spacious, however the water for about 3 days was as brown and filthy as could be, the cleaning staff didn't do much in the way of cleaning and my bedding was worn and tattered, but it was clean. . But, on the positive side, my room was quiet, my view awesome, and the evening sunsets were worth it. the pool was too cold for swimming, the bar was alright, the food pretty good, and the staff in all were very very friendly. I found the girl at the front desk of the hotel extremely pleasant and friendly.

“RUN RUN RUN don't Walk!”

THIS PLACE SUCKS! Straight up horrible! Everything is old, rusty and smells horrid! I took my family there last week and we had thee worst week of our lives!!!!!! I kid you not! Horrible people, water that was brown and very dirty!( I work as a hydro-engineer and I know that is NOT good water!) I didn't allow my wife or our 1 year old daugther to touch it! The people at the front desk only wanted more money from us and told us that the elevator would be broken for another week. We had to climb 9 flights of stairs to get to our 60's style room. When we first walked into our room we saw a cockroach run from the light. My wife saw it and almost passed out. The manager assured me that it would be fumegated and boy oh boy was it. He put a bug bomb in our room and then it made all our clothes and everything smell and burn when we put it on. They insisted that it wasn't a problem and that they do this in everyone's rooms! WE ASKED EVERYONE and NOT one person had a bug bomb in their rooms. I advise you to NEVER stay here accept old people that don't care anymore or are too cheap to move to another hotel.
We did go to the Pubelo Bunito Hotel and finally got rest there. I would NEVER EVER EVER reccomend this hotel to ANYONE! RUN don't walk!

“No Sleep, Nasty Water, Horrible stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2008

Hello Mexico Bound Travlers!

This is a word of warning. Don't expect much! We had a week stay at Balboa Towers and another week at the beach club and each week was worse than the next one.
First off was the rooms. Old and run down, the refrigerator made so much noise we couldn't sleep. The beds we're like huge taco's, you just ended up with matress on each side of you. And yes I did say BEDS- as in two. We requested a king bed but in the mexican way of things, we got two beds and had to put them together. Smelled funny too! :(

The Hotel it self was built in 1979 and looks that way too. We we're put on the first floor, (cause the elevator was OUT!) and listen to the people ALL NIGHT LONG running up and down the hall way drunk as skunks. After our third night of this we had enough. We told the manager (who was never around) to put us somewhere else for the rest of the week, and he said he would but never did. Not to also mention that the water was brown and you never really felt like you got clean.

The staff, well to be honest we only saw the staff when we tried to dodge the lady at the front door that would NOT stop with asking us to go on a tour of some other nicer hotel. Sure they would throw in cab fare and a regular dinner but it wasn't worth our time. We actually went next door to the other hotel right next to us and stayed their during the days.

I can't imagine taking kids here it was so gross and loud that if you put them to bed, they would be up every hour! Not much of a vacation! We are NOT bringing our grandkids here!

Overall pay more and get a better everything some where else!!
