“Mazatlan El Cid Hotels”

One hears all of the negative reports of going to Mexico and are leary to go. I dont know where people get these twisted ideas. Just got back from our golf vacation and stayed at ElCid Castilla hotel. The staff are WONDERFUL, pools heated and clean, food Exceptional in all ala carts, rooms spotless and maid service wonderful and friendly. We were in Room 1502 starting Jan 31st 2012. I thank all the staff for there friendly service with special kudos to Alisha and Gisel at the Elite club and Carlos in Customer service desk. And one cannot forget Ramone in the El Cid Marina ala cart dinner. What a gentleman and pleasure it was to dine there. We went back it was so wonderful. Thankyou one and all from the Elite club staff to the gardeners. You people made our vacation a memorable wonderful experience.Walking through town was also a non issue. The towns people were friendly and greeted you with a smile, yes they want you to shop in there stores but what store keeper dosent. I felt safer walking through Mazatlan than I would right here in Toronto any day of the week, day or night. The golf course ( 27 holes) was a treat and great fun with great caddies that sure help your game. My only issue was internet service was on and off, but that happens in my own home with ROGERS . Ide give El cid 4.9 stars with great thanks and an assurance Ill be back but for LONGER next time. The vendors on the beach will try to sell to you of course but a simple no thankyou or no Gracias is all it takes. Be civil to people and you will have No problem. I firmly believe the trouble on trips we read about are from those who do not use there heads and do foolish things or treat the people badly and ask for trouble. Treat them as you wish to be treated.Thank you EL CID and Mazatlan one and all. Youll be missed untill next time . Esta la Vista

the marina beach was lovely & quiet,unlike their sister hotel El cid moro. pool area very nice unless you like a bit of shade. restaurant is fair,but many more not far.free shuttle to moro which has a few restaurants,inc. good mex.NOWHERE did I get a decent Margaritta untill I went to a bar!
Two complaints about this place:elevator closed too quiclky,almost cutting my arm off. it seemd a bit better 2 days later but still required running in. be careful of tours,even thru hotel.we were steered to expensive shops,not given enough time downtown on the "city tour",not one real crafts store or t shirt shop.& hard to take pics on a moving bus! Take the city bus-real cheap & walk around for yourself. and no need for fear here! just common sence!

Room Tip: all rooms face poo/bay. even right across from pool it was not noisy

Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know your impressions in regards to your stay at this your home. While most of our guests come back home with great memories of their stay, I regret that we did not meet your expectations in a 100%. I totally understand your displeasure for this regretful experience in regards to the elevator service, but fortunately, the most of the comments that we get from our guest are positives but, when they are not, we make use of the complaints to detect and correct our faults. We take advantage of all the opportunities to improve our service.

“Great time in Mazatlan”

Don't believe the scary stories about Mazatlan. Security was not an issue. City is laid back, people are friendly and weather is great. Police presence is very low-key. Never once during our week long trip did we feel the least bit threatened.

El Cid Marina was very nice. Accomodations are great. The beach is wonderful. Jorge, Ramon, Juan Carlos and the remainder of the staff are warm, friendly and very accomodating. El Cid is a little bit away dfrom main commercial area, but their free shuttle will put you in the middle of a nice commercial area. Danny at the La Concha restaurant was a great waiter. I recommend hopping the shuttle and having breakfast beachside at the La Concha restaurant.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 508 and 509. Room was big, cheery and very comforfortable.. Lupitas did a great...

I am pleased with the aspects of the hotel for which you have commented positively such as the beach, facilities, the amazing personalized service you received from Ramon, Juan Carlos and Daniel, and having breakfast at La Concha restaurant where I am sure that admired the wonderful view to the ocean. We had the most amazing experience at the Marina. The service was absolutely wonderful in everyway. It was the employees of El Cid who made my trip all the worthwhile. The hospitality was incredible and I will miss all the famailiar faces. The Bellboys were especially of importance to me. Their presence was outstanding in everyway and I will miss each and everyone of them...most of all, Israel, Jesus, Jose Roman, Juan, Rafael and Edgar. Love you all and miss you! You are all the best!

This was by far our greatest vacation at the El Cid. We have become very close to the staff. The are incredible. Special cudos to the staff at the Calypso, our very good friend Miguel at the Calypso,Jose Ramon the bellman, Fidel and his entire staff a the Laguana Pool, the restaurant staff, Victoria, Fransisco, Cesar, Edy and of course Juan. We met Jorge this year. Thank you for making my husband's birthday so fantastic. Everyone should stay at the El Cid Marina. What a fantastic expreience. We will be back again next year.

Room Tip: All the rooms have great views. We have not been disappointed yet.
