We had to check out, we had a non-refundable prepaid week, but got out as soon as we could. This hotel should be closed down. We had to call to get running water, but it would stop running, and they couldn't get it back on. Sliding glass door didn't lock, fridge sounded like it would short out, no kitchen equipment no security guards, bar/restaurant closed down. And more...worst place I have ever stayed out of scores of hotels in Mexico.

We booked our stay through Discovery Mexico, despite seeing several bad reviews on Trip Advisor. We are happy to report that we had a very pleasant stay for 3 weeks (Jan-Feb.2008). We were in a Junior Suite which was very large with 2 full bathrooms and a great view of the pool, restaurant and Manzanillo Bay in the distance. The staff at Plaza Tucanes were very helpful whenever needed, especially Pablo (Manager) and Alejandro (Assistant). We highly recommend a stay here. There are many steps, but we found the funicular to easy to use and of great assistance. The hotel's location is very accessible by local busses and/or walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

We disagree totally with the three reviews posted earlier. This property is older, but with a great view and great value. We saw NO bugs, and were never once approached concerning buying a time share. I'd definitely stay there again.

I stayed at this hotel and it was horrible. There were bugs in are room, no remote for the tv had to call down for a remote for A/C several times. No plug for the the tub. Felt pressured into listening about timeshares by the pool. Very unhappy would never stay there again
