“Nice location, inexpensive alternative to the all-inclusives”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My wife and I were there the week after Christmas 2011. We enjoyed New Year's there as well. This is a modest hotel, I think used extensively by Mexican families from Guadalajara. Sure lot's of steps as it is on a steep hill! The staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet was well done each day. The pool is small and beach small. We had a nice terrace overlooking the bay. Right next to Las Hadas. Easy access to Manzanillo proper via the bus that goes by about every 20 minutes.
Lots of good restaurants in town. The Dolphin Cove is serviceable. Grounds are very nice, not extraordinary. They do need to update the furnishings.

Thank you for choosing Dolphin Cove Inn and coming to stay with us after Christmas. Christmas and Easter are by far our busiest time with lots of families staying at the hotel. We really appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We would love to welcome you back again soon!

“OK room, lots of stairs, great views”

The title pretty summed it up. I stayed in the city for a night then my companion moved us. In order to go down to the beach there's a loooong flight of stairs. It was ok but don't come here if it bothers you. One night the music was blaring at 2am. The room was big with a mini kitchen but the bed was so-so.

The view... the view was freaking amazing.

Thank you for your review of Dolphin Cove Inn. We really appreciate your feedback. We do have lots of stairs! We have units that are higher up and units that are lower down and closer to the beach. If you come back, we will be sure to put you in a room lower down and closer to the beach. Thanks again!

“MY experience at this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I was in this place on 12/27/11 the employees are very nice and try to help you as much as they can. However the accomodations are terrible in order for you to go from the beach or the pool to your room or to the parking you need to go at least 100 stairs. they have little cars but they say those are for owners only, so if you are just a regular guest you need to be fully prepare to climb these very hard stairs. The chef needs training food is horrible, we had breackfast include and that was not even good (it takes a lot to screw up breackfast in my opinion). They need to find a good chef. I do not recomend this place to anyone who wants to have a relaxing vacation.

“Comfortable, enjoyable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed at the Dolphin Cove Inn hotel in Manzanillo for four nights, from December 18th to the 22nd. It is a shared property (hotel and shared condos) that has two different reception offices, one for the hotel, one for the condos. It is a mediterranean style property, with four rooms in each small building. It has a very good sight of the bay, and depending on the level where your room is located, you´d have a nice view of the sea. The Paradise restaurant, although modest, serves good mexican food, and the prices are just right. Crews from the yatches standing in the nearby Las Hadas marina were having dinner here, a good sign of the value the restaurant offers. Service is good, and friendly.
The rooms are big and comfortable, and could use some sort of renovation. The towels are clean and smell fine although very old and worn. The hotel offers a small convenient store and a kitchenette that we did not use. You could find the beach loses its appeal if you find it difficult to climb the 80+ steps of the ladder on your way back to your room. The hotel offers a ride on a golf cart to the lower levels, but you have to ask for it in advance which makes it a little inconvenient. The hotel was practically empty during our stay, with less than 40 people-the threshold for a breakfast buffett. I rather have the a-la-carte breakfast than the buffett, wich although tasty and good, offers limited options. The beach is narrow, so you can´t practically stay there during the day, but the hotel has several spaces in a terrace. Because the hotel was practically empty, we could enjoy a VERY peaceful rest during our vacation trip. It´s difficult to say if it would be the same during a different season of the year. Overall, it was a very good experience to stay at the Dolphin Cove Inn.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms offer good views, but you need to climb several steps on your way back to your ro...

“A gem!”

While the town of Manzanillo itself is not that great we were delighted with our little hotel. It reminded us of southern Spain with all the white buildings nestled into the hillside next to the ocean. The rooms were clean, spacious, and nicely decorated although the furniture was a bit worn- charming overall. And they all had balconies,or terraces if you get the larger suite, with nice views. The grounds of the hotel were lovely- very well kept and overflowing with colorful flowers. The beach was not big but had lovely sand and it was well situated for swimming ( no big waves). We thought it was nicer that the expensive hotel, Las Hadas, next door. Although we did not feel the need, you can pay extra to use their facilites as well. The hotel is also close to the Marina which has a couple of very good restaurants. It was a great place to relax with just enough amenities close by. There were a lot of stairs up and down but it just meant you could have more margaritas! ( I never had a blackberry margarita before this- you have to try it).
