“Keep away”

This hotel is very old and in dire need of a complete overhaul inside the rooms. Our room overlooking the palapa/beach was filthy, in need of repairs, rusty door locks, one that once locked was hard to open, bed ( concrete) had not seen a cleaning cloth in some time, doors were full of splits and holes, wiring hanging out, sliding windows were filthy, floor of shower filthy.Owner had people painting outside the property, guess he never inspects the insides. Cannot swim in ocean as it is very rough. The poolside furniture was absolutely dirty and needed replacement or painting. On the bright side breakfast a la carte was good

Room Tip: Don't stay here

“Not a resort, but a good deal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2009

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon in June 2007. We chose this hotel due to price and location - far cheaper than any of the resorts but still on a beach. We weren't interested in a resort or package tours, so this was perfect as a centrally located base of operations for exploring.

The cab driver from the airport knew where the hotel was, always a good thing. When we first checked in they showed us to the wrong room (no AC, no balcony), but were quick to change us to the right one when I mentioned it.

The rooms themselves are fairly plain, but are adequate. The dresser was small, but there was a lot of shelf space in the bathroom. Satelite TV and a wall mounted AC unit that felt glorious when turned on (wall switch, not a thermostat). The balcony was quite nice for watching ships coming to/from the harbor and large waves crashing on the beach (too large to swim in). Housekeeping was daily with sweeping (we tracked in a lot of sand), bed making, and large bottle of water. Only complaint is the moldy insulation around the refrigerant lines in the bathroom. But - it's a 55 dollar hotel room on the beach in Mexico. The pool and cheaper restaurant are okay. We did not eat in the nice restaurant. Free parking that seems secure. (fenced off from public and viewable by front desk).

Location is pretty good. It's right on the main drag through town. Several restaurants across the street for informal dining and Soriana (kind of like a super target/walmart) about 1/2 mile-1 mile down the road for water, Pepto Bismol, snacks, whatever. The beach is quiet but the waves are quite loud.

The website now has on-line reservations and lists free wi-fi. I would consider staying there again if it was just the wife and I. If we had kids....maybe a family friendly resort. This place is pretty much like a Holiday Inn on the beach - not much to do on grounds, but a good place to crash.

“A very decent place to stay at a good price”

I have stayed at this hotel twice. The rooms are clean and the service is good. All rooms open to outside like a motel. If it's raining, you may catch a few drops walking to the restaurant. Food is good. The hotel is right on the beach, but the beach is too dangerous to enjoy. Danger signs are posted. The sunset view is beautiful. Hotel personel are very nice and helpful. I rate the place as 3 to 4 stars.
