Obviously we love this "home away from home". As you have read other reviews you will see that this is the first month that this luxury traditional hotel has offerred "all inclusive packages" along with having the regular conventional guest format. With that in mind, yes, there is a need to sign for various items. If you are looking for the "belly up to the bar or food troughs" then I suggest you look at other hotels. The Grand Bay is a traditional luxury facility and we would hate to see it lower it's standards to meet the "new wave" of some not so well behaved guests who obviously just want to binge and make a pig of themselves.
We have just returned after a 3 week stay and majority of the guest we spoke with absolutely love the place. I do not golf however all golfers were impressed with the 27 hole course ( it has been rated as Mexico's second best course) and plan on returning. As far as the meals- we usually have the breakfast buffet or occasionally order off the menu. For lunch and dinner, we would certainly get bored having every meal at the hotel. The town of Barra offers dozens of unique places from economy Mexico Lindo| ( very good and cheap) to Sambuccca's by the Big tree at very fair prices. If you love seafood and shrimps a must is Fortino's located on the water in Colima a short walk from the hotel lobby, in fact the golf course shuttle passes the doorway. After reading other reviews it is apparent that you can not please everyone. Nothing is perfect but we do several vacations every year to other places and use all inclusive and regular hotels. We continue to return to the Grand Bay because of the it is very safe, the staff are second to none and we get full value for our money.
If you wish to ask us any questions please send them as we highly recommend the hotel and area.
One final comment. If you are on an all inclusive packet you are getting a very good deal pricewise but don't forget the staff work damn hard for you so please leave a few bucks on the side for them. Further if you MUST smoke please follow the non smoking area policy. For some it is highly offensive and like myself, many have or are overcoming cancer treatments and your smoke is extemely offensive. Thank you..
Room Tip: smoking has just been re allowed in some areas so bear that in mind
