“A Great Place!”

This is a wonderful place to stay! The grounds are beautiful, the service was very good, especially at the restaurant on the grounds--very friendly waiters!Down the road a little way (you can easily walk it) is a wonderful restaurant called L'Recife. The view is breathtaking, and on our last night there we watched whales in the ocean. The prices are also great. You can call Palma Real to come pick you up after dinner (recommended, because this road is very dark at night and made of cobblestones, so would be hard to walk on if you can't see).I can't wait to stay here again! A number of the staff speak very limited or no English, so it helps is someone knows a little Spanish. I highly, highly recommend this hotel.

“Palma Real”

My wife and I stayed here at the end of January and had a great time. The grounds and landscaping were very nice and well taken care of. The studio unit we stayed in was at the top of the hill and had a view of most of the bay. The room was very spacious and had a big deck and living room area. The grocery store downstairs had just some bare essentials, but the prices were very reasonable. There are two pools and the larger of the two has a river that encircles it. Water jets help propel the water in the river so you can float around in one big circle. The restaurant onsite has good food and the prices are very reasonable considering it is one of the few places to eat on the peninsula. Their service was excellent and we always received very good attention. The hotel staff was also very friendly and helpful despite there being a little bit of a language barrier. From the hotel there is a wooden bridge that crosses the lagoon to the beach at la Boquita. If you need a taxi you can the reception desk call a cab to meet you on the other side of the bridge. It is a little quicker and cheaper than having them drive all the way down the peninsula. The one thing I would recommend is that you go to the beach at la Boquita and eat at one of the thatched roofed ramadas. We ate at 'El Rey' almost every day and the food is excellent - some of the freshest seafood we've ever had. I recommend you get the red snapper serandeado style. Also, you can order a bucket of beer with ice in it so you can drink at your leisure. On the beach, almost in the middle of all the ramads is a man named Richard (Ricardo) who rents various beach equipment and also does fishing and snorkeling tours. He speaks good english and helped us the first day with ordering food at the restaurant on the beach. We also went on a snorkeling tour with him and as part of the deal you get to fish on the way to and from the bay that he takes you to. Any fish that is caught he keeps, but prepares luch for you with part of it. I caught a 13 kg. dorado (mahi mahi) and when we got back, Richard cooked us up a delicious meal from our catch. If you see him, tell him the couple from Seattle say "Hi"
