“Great Bargain, Best Buget Holiday!”

First let me say that the glitches were minor, Hotel was not at capacity so they would shut down one of the three elevators. That is when we found out that an overloaded elevator has an alarm and will not close the doors. But with a pleasant yet firm reminder at the front desk, the 3rd. elevator started up right away. Food was good as smorgs go the al a carte restaurant was a 3 out of five, good presentation but lacked quality. Stay with the smorg unless you want to experience a fantastic Spanish Coffee. Pool Great, Beach is Great, Beds are not as hard as most, folks found them very good.
Location is Beautiful. Bus stop at front of hotel about 55 cents Canadian (6 pesos). #8 Bus to Walmart then take a #1 Bus right into old town. , and the reverse back to the hotel. Best $1.10 Tour you can take! Monkeys fast food in old town is a must for the Fried Chicken Lover. about 30 times better than KFC and you can have a beer to-boot...
Locals are very friendly and eager to help best they can with very little or no English. Our restaurant Spanish got us around quite well. A real gem at the hotel is a very professional waiter named Fernado F. You can find him 6 days a week in the Palapa lunch snack/bar. The $20.00 (Canadian), Booze cruse leaves and returns just in front of the Palapa and provides an excellent late afternoon entertainment. The other guest at the hotel are 83% upper middle class Mexican Families. 2% Americans and 15% riffraff bargain hunting Canadian booze consumers.
Note, only bring currency ether Canadian or America in very good condition, "no corners cut off and not wrinkly or smudged, They will not take a chance on them" There are no little money exchanging Kiosks here in Manzanillo.
Take a big roll of American ones for tipping. A dollar tip can really go along way here.
40 pesos will take you by cab to the Flea Market Saturdays only, do it, it's a wonderful experience!
The Mexicans are a real pleasant experience and to witness wholesome family values I thought were extinct back in Canada, gave hope...
Hope this helps your decision, our group or 4 couples would go back in an instant...

“Sarah, Perry and Hannah - one word - Fabulous!!!”

We have just returned from a really fantastic week at the Tesoro. We have stayed at previous all-inclusive resorts including 3* to 5*s. We had read some of the trip advisors before we headed there and were a little apprehensive but upon arrival we were happily impressed. We booked a one-bedroom master suite and were thrilled with the spaciousness of it. We had a wrap around balcony and got to enjoy 6 absolutely breathtaking sunsets. The rooms were clean and well attended to by our cleaning staff. We left a $20 Peso note on our bed and our daughters' bed each day as a display of gratitude. Also we tipped the young gentleman who stocked our fridge daily and got an extra bottle of water and can of soda as there was 3 of us. The pool bar was fun and we found that the service from the bartenders and waitresses was great. Our favourite pool bar staff was Angel! He left a lasting impression. The food in the restaurants was good and you didn't have to eat the same thing daily. Good variety of choices. We ate in the A la Carte restaurant and the food was good but you need to book early in the morning with the concierge in order to get a reservation of your choice. The shows performed nightly were very entertaining and even more impressive as the performers are staff that have worked all day at the resort! JC and Miguel, the Transat reps, gave a great presentation the first day and I highly recommend attending to get some really great information about the things to do in the area. The beach was lovely. No jelly fish (as a previous Trip Advisor had complained about) and swimming in the surf was a blast. All the staff were wonderful, friendly, courteous and gracious. Those that left an impression are; Rico, Pepe, Ruben, Laura, Marianna, Brisa, Gardenia and Angel. We also met lots of really wonderful people who were staying at the resort. It is a very friendly environment and conducive to meeting people from all over. Its great for families of all ages. If you do any trips, we say the Ecotour Turtles & Mangroves as it's a great tour and if you're lucky, like we were, you will get to release baby turtles to the ocean that have been hatched in the safety of the refuge. We would highly recommend Tesoro resort and definitely will be back. Thank you Tesoro and see you again!

Room Tip: Recommend a master suite overlooking the beach - corner suite to take advantage of the sunsets

“AWESOME!!!!!”

I have to say that was an awesome trip.
I have stayed at everything from a 1.5*-5* to actual castles in Europe. This place was great. We paid $940/person all inclusive and would do it again in a heart beat. the food was good, the bedrooms were kept clean, the hotel itself was very clean. The beach is great, (no cancun beach) but very decent. The booze keeps coming!!! I am surprised there was any booze left when we went home. The staff around the pool, pool bar, and restaurants were absolutely topnotch. They were sooooo nice and gracious. We are going to miss that place so much.

Pool bar talk to Santarnino. He's the best bartender in the joint. We gave him $10 at the beginning of the week and he had are drinks ready and waiting "every" time we went back for more. No lining up for us.
Laura, and Yolanda are the pool waitresses. Same thing. Everytime we blinked they had a drink ready for us.
Main floor restaurant Alfredo. Hes the best. Always on it. Had our coffee and orange juice at the table before we sat down.
Activities (pool side) Francesco. He gives a better deal than the hotel activities center. Just remember whatever activity you do take your own, water, booze and food.

Say hello to the lovely ladies: Marianna, Brisa, Gardenia, and Pepe

Go with the right attitude. If your a snob stay somewhere else.

Thank you Tesoro for a most amazing time!!!

“Relaxing Trip”

Tesoro was a very nice hotel. We booked a 1 bedroom master suite. To our surprise it didn't have a balcony.(1163) The room itself was fine and the beds were awesome. Large bathroom with seperate tub and huge shower with tons of hot water. Room and hotel in general was clean. Food at the buffet was average and we were done with it by the end of the week. If you like cilantro you'll be ok. The Italian a la carte was excellent and the Mexican was pretty good. As other reviewers have mentioned the Spanish Coffee is tasty and a good show. The pool was clean and warm. Didn't spend too much time in it though. Beach was nice and fairly calm. High tide brought in some sea junk but otherwise it was clean. We were there over a Mexican holiday so the weekend was busy with locals which was fine. After numerous tries we were able to get a suite with a balcony for the last night which was awesome. Huge balcony right on the beach as well as a seperate balcony off the bedroom. (341) Elevators are quirky and painfully slow at times as others have mentioned.

“A-mazing trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

First of all, thank you to all of the positive reviewers, without you I wouldn't have gone to the Tesoro. Secondly, if you have never been to Manzanillo, you need to go and you need to stay here. For the money you get such a great vacation. The room was a good size and very clean, it was bigger than the Crowne Plaza room we stayed in in Toronto the night before our flight. The ocean view was great and I took a trip up to the 19th floor just to look--what a view! Breakfast for me was okay but lunch and dinner got better each day we were there. The staff were amazing so friendly and polite. Do NOT book trips through the air transaat guy in the lobby. He knows nothing and wants to make money off you. Talk to any of the guys on the beach by the jet skis. They are amazing. They don't want to take your money and they will help you get what you want. Oscar let us choose our fishing boat from a page of 8 different boats. We went fishing (twice), snorkeling and kayaking. Go do everything the bays are beautiful. I went for a walk everyday up in the "hills" by the resort. I can't describe the views of both bays. Also, million dollar properties are all over the hills. Walk to Las Hadas and climb the water tower stairs, breathtaking. Go into town and visit Chipotle for the best mahi mahi you've ever had. Buy snacks at Kiosko or Oxxo. Go to the market on Saturday to look at all sorts of Mexican crafts. Go boogie boarding on Miramar beach if the waves are there. I've lived in Mexico, I've toured all over the Pacific and I've been to Cancun. This place is different--in a good way--because of the mountains, the people and the food. Go!!! For the money you can't beat it and you'll have a great time in real Mexico without all of the tourists and pushy vendors.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th floor--great view, great showers, comfortable bed!!
