We stayed at the Hotel Maro from Dec 26-Jan2/08, after getting reasonably priced flights and then needing a room! I phoned down to the hotel and was able to get a room, which was virtually impossible during this high Christmas season. The owner/manager speaks very good English (the only one in the hotel who does) and was very accomodating. The hotel is spotless, good location to Crucecita , if you dont mind walking into the Centro. Even though the hotel filled up completely with Mexican families, it was still quiet and clean and neat. Something, you dont always find in Mexican familial hotels. The pool is lovely also.. They have taken out the jacuzzi and built 4 more rooms on the top level, that are smaller, so ask about where your room is when booking. They also did not serve breakfast, as the website indicates. We were given a small basket of fruit and buns, although. Not sure if they will resume the breakfast thing, as we could not see anywhere that this could be done. Overall, we really enjoyed Hotel Maro, and will return, as we dont do the All-Inclusive thing. I should say that it would help to have some Spanish language skills, but you could get by. In the busy Christmas season, the Hotel Maro was a nice spot to be!
