“you have to really hate yourself to stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

I figured I should take the time to write a review about this place since I disliked it so much.
Dirty (REALLY, dirty), small, rooms. DIRTY bathrooms. Dirty sheets (I got bit by a bug and had to go get an antibiotic cream to get rid of the marks). Ridiculous breakfast.
I would say the good thing about the place is the location and the staff that try to make it acceptable. but doesn't really counterbalance the rest.
Do not stay here unless you REALLY cannot afford anything more expensive. it's just not worth the heartache.

“Perfectly fine for what it is”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2010

Pros: affordable, central place to stay in Acapulco, with a helpful staff and free wifi.

Cons: Incredibly noisy. No good window shades, so the light keeps/wakes you up. Tiny rooms. The a/c is way too cold at night.

It fulfilled my needs for my one night in Acapulco-- any longer and I would have gone elsewhere. But for what it is, it's fine.

“Smaaaaall, good for 1-2 nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

Employees very friendly, and just cross the street to get to the beach. BUT.... the rooms are small -- I would say 8 ft. X 8 ft., including the four beds. You sleep in a cubby hole. They do provide a large locker space outside the room. The 210pesos are for LOCATION, definitely not space!

Fortunately, there was only one other person placed in my room where I stayed on a Wednesday night (non-weekend), but I cannot imagine the chaos if there were four people filling the room -- especially if you have a great deal of luggage. But I'll give it a ''yes'' recommendation for a one night stay.

“Great location for a "brig"”

We stayed at the K3 during our Spring Break road trip. The location right on the main street is fine, but it is definatly lacking parking spaces if you bring your own car. The staff is nice and the terrace offers a place to relax. The rooms themselves are really small and without windows. We had one with 4 beds and except the 2 bunks there was only the space between them, nothing else. Also they are all connected to central air-condition and therefore freazing cold. Breakfast includes the basic hostel stuff, cereal, coffee, marmelade and toast but there are some nice places close by to have a better one for a little extra fee. The place is really clean and staff took care of all the problems while we were there. One issue is that most of the beaches across the street are not that nice and you should rather go to New Acapulco for that. This will take you up to an hour - depending on traffic - and get very expensive if you don't bring your own car.

“Super Location and value”

This was my first time in a youth hostel and I was a little apprehensive. I always perceived that a hippie like atmosphere would persist and K3 was nothing like that. The dorm rooms are tiny but you must measure that with where you are located in the middle of Acapulco and the cost of your room. Coffee and toast is a descent breakfast when provided in the cost of your room. There is a bar and a terrace. The beer prices are very cheap and the hostel sells smokes and snacks too.
The hostel is gay friendly but IMO was a nice mix of all nationalities and genders. The beach located across the street is a gay beach.
The only thing that aggravated me was getting nickled and dimed to death for incidental charges.10 extra pesos for a towel, 50 peso baggage storage, 25 peso shower fee after checking out. I don't know if other hostels are as bad or not but I think the charges should be pointed out up front and not posted at the check-in counter in the upper right corner where no one can read them.
this is a great way to see Acapulco which was much nicer than I had envisioned. I'll be back some day.
