“Another awesome vacation”

I returned to Acapulco in early Jan., decided to try the CP, was a great decision! The hotel is located in the perfect location when it comes to "finding things to to" with the city. Our group spent every other day participating in activities away from the hotel. We enjoyed riding the buses and taking the VW taxis. I would highly recomment the swim with dolphins at CiCI, it was an amazing experience!
As for the CP, nothing but nice experiences our entire eight days! One of the reasons we enjoyed our stay so much was due to the extremly friendly and hard working staff. The employees at the front desk, housekeeping, servers around the pool, servers in the resturants and security all did a fantastic job. We enjoyed the meals at the CP, it was nice the way the hotel would change up the eating locations. Sometimes we ate indoors, at the buffet outdoors looking at the ocean or in the large lobby area that was set up as a resturant twice while we were there. We loved the food served at the ala cart also.
One other thing that made the CP more fun then where I stayed last year was the great music played by a band Thurs - Sat., evenings.
We enjoyed free interenet in our rooms and requested the use of a cot and were given both services for free. We were originally told by our travel agent that there would be fees for such service but the front desk waved such fees.
There is always talk about rooms so I will comment on our room at the CP. It was an average room with a million dollar view. We were only in our room to sleep and shower so we were all fine with our acccommodations. The air conditioning worked very well, just what we needed after a day at the pool/beach and 90 degree days.
We enjoyed the pool that had the falls and swim up bar. We ate our lunches most days around the pool, the burger and fries was excellent! The pool (with swim up bar) was refreshing and tended to attract adults as the kids seemed to have their own play pool. It was nice to see the staff organize activities such as volley ball on the beach, water polo, water basketball etc.
It did get rather busy Friday night to Sunday afternoon as we found out a lot of people were visiting the CP from their homes for a weekend away. It only added to the energy level and enjoyment of the CP.
The beach is nice but we chose to swim down the beach a bit near a cluster of rocks. This area seemed a bit more safe compared to the area in front of the hotel.
Our vacation was better then hoped, we had excellent value for the cost of our trip :@)

Room Tip: We chose a lower room but we extremly happy with our view.

“Major mainteinance needed”

This hotel used to be a star hotel in the bay... In 1980...

The building is still quite nice and the facilities are good. Value for money is not a question. You do get more than what you pay for. Mainly because of that you can expect this hotel to be overcrowded (not with the best crowd), full of kids and not delivering the best when it comes to having a relaxing time. But that is pretty much applicable to any other hotel in this area).

Room Tip: Ask for a room in a floor 18+, preferably on the side facing the newer part of the bay.

“Fabulous time in Acalpulco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

A fun, low-key hotel in the heart of the main strip. The staff and general vibe at the hotel was very good. We enjoyed the drinks and lunch by the poolside. Rooms were bright and airy - make sure to ask for a view of the beach, it was amazing.

As an aside, you want to be diligent and find out about the political situation. Acapulco has a huge police presence because of the war with drug cartels. This can be daunting when walking the strip to see so many police and army patrolling the tourist areas with AK 47s.

Room Tip: Ask for beach side view and floors above 20.

“Music out front”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

I've stayed at the Crowne a couple times and the rooms are showing wear, and the beds are hard.
But the lobby, security, and outside areas are still very good.
On Saturday nights the bar out front has good music and dancing. Beautiful breeze and wonderful atmosphere.
However last year, someone in management decided to make extra money on Saturdays by having a large BBQ dinner that filled the lobby area, and crowded out the bar dance area. We avoided going after that. We still went once in a while and saw our favourite waiter, Mario.
