“A great place to stay in the sun & realx”

We just returned from our four week stay in Acapulco, staying at The Sea Gardeb for the first time, & we were more than happy. We are Mayan Palace owners but we chose The Sea Garden because we are beach people, & the new Mayan is way out on the golf course, & at The Sea Garden we could just walk accross the road to the beach. There are also pools for pool people, but if you like the beach & ocean, grab an umbrella supplied by the resort & enjoy. A perfect place. We were piced up by our long time friend & tour guide Roberto Alarcon. We have known both Roberto & his brother Benjamin for over ten years & they are just great guys both of them. They speak perfect english, have new suburbans, & will give you the best service, & tours in Acapulco. Roberto can be reached at robertoalrey@yahoo.com.mex For a perfect holiday we reccommend The Sea Garden Acapulco

“Perfect getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2011

My first visit to Acapulco - hotel was a short cab ride from main part of town but close to the airport. Loved the simplicity. Had everything we needed for a relaxing week.
Short walk across the street to beach - perfect sand/water.
The grounds were immaculate - everything very clean.
Found a taxi/tour guide from other trip advisor reviews- BEST part of our trip!!!!!
Benjamin Alarcon (benjamin_alarcon@yahoo.com)... loves his city and took very good
care of us for the week! Consider him a friend.
We were two women traveling alone- NEVER felt unsafe .

“Best trip we have ever taken”

Sea Garden was all that we had planned-it was beautiful and a great place to go. The rooms, pool, gardens were very clean and well kept. The beach was beautiful and a great place to walk and enjoy the sounds of the water.. Sebastian Hernandez our taxi driver for the week, made our vacation the best, as he took us to several places of interest that wasn't to far from Sea Garden. He could speak English very will & was very fair & honest. Adapulco Bay, Flamingo Hotel, Cliff Divers, the Market, Bakery, Chapel of Peace, etc. was just a few places that he took us to. As a courtesy he didn't charge us for the fare back to the airport. The hotel filled our every need. We ate at the Italian Restaurant most of the time. A few times we ate from the small restaurant by the beach. They both had very good food. Our friend got sick in the middle of the night and in minutes they had a Dr. with him. I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Restful”

My wife and I found the Sea Garden facilities and personnel to be outstanding. It met our needs perfectly, the right combination of splash and dash.

This was our first time in Acapulco (Cancun last year is our only comparison), but absolutely enjoyed the area, and will come back.

I would recommend for those who are interested in touring both the city and region to seek a Sea Garden affiliated taxi driver to provide your transportation. We found Hector (numero uno taxi driver in Acapulco) to be very informative, safe, reasonable, and reliable. He made suggestions as to destinations, both in the new and old city, so needless to say, we ate authentic Mexican meals as well as the standard fair. Since he has been driving taxi for 30+ years, he is very well known in the restaurants, marinas, and shopping areas, so he is able to see that you are treated very well, whether it is a table to enjoy the scenic views, or places that you can receive the 'best deals.'

“Nice relaxing vacation”

It was wonderful to escape the snow in Chicago and arrive at the warm Acapulco airport. We were glad we had pre-arranged a taxi driver to meet us and we were also glad for his instructions to walk right past all the tricky time-share sellers in the hallway of the airport.

It's a very short drive to the airport so we could get into the gorgeous pool right away. Francisco at the pool introduced himself as our "Waiter and bartender" and makes a great pina coloda - 2 for 1 during happy hour!

The Italian restaurant on the premises has very good food. We found that we could easily split an entree
and have plenty enough for dinner. The salad dressing is wonderful! I'd highly recommend the spinach salad.

The trolley is convenient so you can easily get to the other Mayan restaurants. As in all Mayan locations, everyone should try the sumptious breakfast buffet at Cafe de Lago at least once. It's so huge, we allowed 90 minutes to eat and then skipped the rest of the meals that day. And it's not one of those buffets where the quantity overtakes the quality. The quality of all the food is simply outstanding.

It's slightly inconvenient to have to go across the street to the beach, but the lovely two-tiered pool there is as much fun to float in as the lounge chairs on the beach are fun to lounge in. I suggest getting an umbrella if you're on the beach itself - that way you can have some shade all day. It reached 90 F. with clear skies and we were thankful for some shade.

We hired the same taxi service for a tour of Acapulco. Sebastian Hernandez [--] is a certified tour guide and kept us from being swept up by one of the taxis that hang out in front of the hotel. Too many of those are secretly time-share sellers themselves. Sebastian's highly informed tour included not only the sights, but the explanations and historical background. And he frames a good photo of us tourists as well. If you type his name in the seach bar you can see more about his services.

We also went to the "Mexican Fiesta" Sebastian offers another night. Another couple went, too. It's out into the countryside at a restaurant with entertainment and dancing where the locals go to party, even on week nights. I would suggest taking ear plugs along for that evening. There are no walls on the restaurant (none needed in this climate!) but there are whole walls of speakers and a DJ who takes no breaks ever. It was a most interesting experience - and we made good friends with the other couple.

The hotel staff seemed surprised when we mentioned we were walking down to the Grand Mayan, but it's a nice long walk on the beach. We found we could do it before 9 AM when it was cooler. I wouldn't suggest it at midday.

We checked out the Grand Mayan and since it was only a third full, we went ahead and stayed there to swim one day and use the beach another day. If you're there when it's crowded, the guards would probably make Sea Garden guests leave (a different color wrist band identifies you.) But we had no trouble either day.

We liked staying at the Sea Garden because everything is smaller and closer. The air conditioners were noisy and prone to breakdown, but they're being replaced so that problem should cease. The lack of WiFi anywhere on the Sea Garden premises is a pain. We spent little time in the room itself because the pools and beaches were so inviting. It's nice that Mayan has such expertise at landscaping. It's restful on the eyes and spirit.
