I spent a week with two other women in a two bedroom suite. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with elegant and luxurious sitting areas. From the moment of arrival I felt that every effort was being made to make me feel comfortable and relaxed through all my senses from the continual visually enhancing arrangements of plants, ponds, art pieces and furniture to the subtle aroma of sandalwood to the sounds of flowing water, relaxation music piped into the lobbies and foyers. And the Beachfront messages are to die for and very affordable! I enjoyed the fact that the amenities for both the Grand Mayan and the Mayan Palace were available to us. Shuttles between the two, separated by a beautiful golf course, were both quick and convenient. The staff at the both the Mayan Palace and the Grand Mayan were nothing short of perfect. All staff from the greeters at the front door to the smooth check in to the cleaning people , the waiters/waitress at the restaurants all wore smiles and aimed to please. We ate at the poolside restaurant, Samba as well as Bakal and Mundo and were always impressed with the food. Pools were always clean and really enjoyed the lazy river. I went for a couple rounds in it every day! I was impressed with the variety of activities at the hotel(Bingo, ping pong aquafit, water polo, karaoke, line dancing, etc)
We opted to hire a tour guide,Sebastian Hernandez(acapulcofor_all@yahoo.com) who was absolutely awesome. He picked us up at the airport and took us to get groceries on the way to the Resort and then arranged for wonderful tours of The Chapel of Peace, the Diego Rivera murals, the Los Flamingos Hotel(which was owned by Johnny Wiesmueller and John Wayne and was known as an American Gangster Hideaway) and the Markets. Not only did he take us to see the sights but he talked about the history and customs of Acapulco as if he were telling a beautiful love story. I was very impressed with his storytelling abilities. He arranged for dinner at a beach-side restaurant, Esmirna Del Mar, where we experienced the best seafood dinner and the most beautiful sunset ever as well as a most relaxing message on the beach. We also went to the Hotel Mirador where we watched the famous cliff divers. Sebastian was very well respected among the people at the places we went to visit and he made reservations for the best seating and VIP treatment at everyplace we went. Anything we needed to do, go to the bank, get more groceries, even go to a pharmacy- Sebastian was there! Above all else, we felt SAFE IN ACAPULCO and would not hesitate to go back!!!
