I did enjoy my visits at Perico's in downtown Cancun. The biggest hurdle is finding the place. It is about 2 blocks north of Tulum Ave - but we always get lost trying to get there. You will probably end up walking down alleys to find it - luckily, we got there safely. It may be best to take a taxi. Leaving, it is easier to find the bus stop to get you back to the hotel zone - but that all relative (still a bit confusing..) Anyway, back to Perico's! We stopped in on a Tue night about 5pm. The restaurant was open, but not busy by any means. The bar has saddles for seats - only 3 are stools. Get there early and sit in the stools - the saddles are not comfortable. The bartender - Adolfo - is very entertaining. Card tricks, balancing coke bottles, balancing drinks and beer on his head. They also have this flaming shot - La Cucaracha. I think it is mostly kahlua - maybe some tequila on top so that it will light. Had one of those before we left that evening. Very tasty! Like chocolate. We ate dinner there the next night-reservations for 7 pm. The band was already playing (there will be a wait if you try to get there any later). Your waiter will probably want to dance with the lady of the table. They dance around the whole place, outside, and the usual tequila shots. Many waiters balance the food trays on their heads to deliver the food. Very entertaining was the guy who balanced 15 (yes, fifteen) water glasses on his head and danced around. One by one, glasses were added to the stack - and he didn't lose his balance - no broken glasses. The only bad thing was our waiter - he was too busy dancing and entertaining that he didn't check back with us on our dinner. I prefer restaurants without all that activity - but this one I make an exception for!
