“Our Rescue from the badest hotel ever "Wayma Resort"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

After a horrable night in Wayma we were looking for a better place to stay and found a jewel. this little hotel is run by a german couple and their daughter. everywhere you can see the german roots and their love for this project. the rooms are very clean and colorful (germany meets mexico).
the quinta is right at the laguna and you can go kayaking and swimming.
the breakfast is amazing (fruits, omelette, bread and homemade marmelade....)

“Beautiful, but a tricky location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2010

We stayed at Quinta Erika with our two young children and my parents. We rented the bungalow, which is nicely equipped and has all necessary cooklng equipment. The place is lovely, with a beautiful pool and a deck looking out onto the lagoon- which isn't always that easy to get to from other places. The lagoon is fantastic and the owners at Quinta Erika allowed us to use their boat for free.

We were surprised at how far out the place was, however. It was very difficult to find in the dark, and when we got there it was hard to find someone. We didn't have our own transport and it was difficult to find a taxi. The Quinta also doesn't offer evening meals and there is nowhere within easy walking distance open in the evening. This was a bit of a problem.

The owners made an effort to drive us to Pie de La Cuesta nearby, because there were so few taxis, although they do charge for this. They also offered an excellent breakfast and were able to do our laundry for us.

The owners did not provide much written information about the locality although had lots of suggestions if asked. Watch out for odd charges, like for having the bungalow cleaned after your stay. There are easier places to stay in Pie De La Cuesta, and we could have had somewhere with hot water and air con for the same price, but Quinta Erika offered a unique experience and we are glad we stayed.

“a private oasis!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2008

I recentlly stayed at Quinta Erika for two nights with my husband, our daughter, and my in-laws. We loved our stay! The Quinta is wonderful and Pie de la Cuesta and the Barra de Coyuca are incredible!

We rented the bungalow, which has two bedrooms, a small kitchenette and a living room as well as an covered outside patio that includes a dining area and a washing area. One of the bedrooms has a king sized bed. The other bedroom has a queen sized bed and a twin bed. The bedrooms have lots of drawers. The living room has a sofa and other chairs-- a short person could sleep on the sofa!

There is no hot water in the bungalow, but we didn't miss it that much. The weather was perfect so a cool shower feels just fine. Also there is no air conditioning, but there are plenty of fans. We were quite comfortable.

The grounds themselves are amazing! The garden is this jungle like paradise that is kept up really well. There is a small pool and a very nice outdoor shower (also with un-heated water). But the feature we enjoyed the most was the dock with direct access to Lake Coyuca. The dock itself is a nice place to relax and you can swim in the lake, which is warm. Or you can borrow one of their boats and paddle around. It was really so wonderful-- look at my pictures!

Across the street from the Quinta, in the other direction, is the Pacific Ocean. We went there both nights to watch the sun set-- just gorgeous. We hardly saw a soul the entire time. If you want a relaxing get-away full of sun, water, and nature's glory, this is a great destination.

The hosts were really great as well-- we had some requests that they promptly and courteously took care of. The Quinta is really the family's own home, and the family owns and runs the business, with an eye for detail but also a warm heart.

If you stay at the bungalow I suggest you do your grocery shopping before you get out there. There isn't much around-- which is one of the joys!!!-- so bring the food you'll want.

The Quinta is a good value. We paid $1450 pesos a night total for 5 adults and a child and our dog.

So, overall, highly recommend both the location and this particular bed and breakfast!

I've also posted some pictures-- take a look!

  • Liked — the dock, the lake, the beautiful grounds, the comfotable bungalow
  • Disliked — nothing!
