My wife and I checked in for a overnight stay on 5/2 and offer a frank assessment of the hotel. In summary,
1. Front desk management is not adept at solving routine issues
2. Don't expect anything more than a self service hotel
3. Elevator security system "turned off" thus allowing access to anyone off the street.
We arrived at the hotel at 7p on a Tuesday night and were subsequently offered no help with our luggage although the front desk had no less than four people standing around. We are not at all high maintenance people and were not expecting much from a "Express"-type chain, nonetheless, our presence was not acknowledged until we approached the counter to check in. Again, not expecting 4 or even 3 star treatment but the set up is completely self serve to the point that it more resembles a cafeteria than a hotel that claims to cater to business travelers.
Shortly after being assigned to a room on the 5th floor, we found out that the air conditioner unit needed to be replaced (per building engineer's assessment) and were assigned a room two doors down. It turned out that the new room had the same problem and instead of immediately moving us to a another new room, the front desk clerk promised the problem would be remedied if we just gave engineering 20 minutes to replace the unit. Well 20 minutes later, the air conditioner was still in the same condition as before. The front desk clerk, while apologizing said that she really couldn't do anything and that it would take 10-15 minutes to even figure out if they had a room to move us to. Furthermore, she implied that the air conditioners here are just very loud and that it really wasn't her problem.
The result: it wasn't worth arguing and we decided to stick it out in the room but to share our experience at this hotel so other people wouldn't have to deal with these same frustrations.
Two other comments:
1. Paper thin walls
2. Elevator had the security system "turned off": Normally required a valid key inserted to authorize a floor button to be pushed but no security in the elevator. Pretty scary that it allows access to anyone.
