I stayed at two other hotels here, Executivo which needs a facelift as it is run down, and Holiday Inn, clean and large rooms but no pool, and this is by far a notch or two above. It is very clean, bright, modern inside and out with a beautiful pool, lobby, free wireless (I'm actually typing this poolside right now and thinking how happy I am we moved hotels to this one), and a good menu selection for the restaurant and room service.
The pool area seems good for kids. I don't have any but a mom and daughter just spent about 2 hours in it and looked like they were having fun.
This is DEFINITELY an excellent choice in Culiacan and a full notch above the rest.

There are very few reviews about any place in Culiacan and what sources we did find rated the Lucerna at between two and three stars. What we did find was a hotel that was fine in all respects. The staff was very professional from check-in to the waiters in the bar. The rooms were clean, very comfortable and well-appointed and the location is easy to find and in close proximity to a modern shopping mall, as well as a number of good restaurants in various price ranges. It will be a pleasure to return to the Lucerna in the future.

Myself, my husband and our 5 year old son stayed at the Lucerna in Culiacan for 3 nights in March. My brother lives in Culiacan and we were visiting him from the UK.
It is a very comfortable, modern and clean hotel. We are from London and speak a little spanish, but all of the reception girls speak very good english, as do the bellboys.
Our room was clean and tidy and we had a view of the river behind the hotel.
We had 2 nights initially, then went away and came back for our final night. I can recommend you ask for a room overlooking the river....it is very quiet. On our return for our last night, we were given a room overlooking the main road, and I have to say, its a pretty busy road, even at night.
But for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Lucerna came up trumps. I am delighted to be the first person to review this hotel in english! It is a very pleasant hotel with lovely staff.
