Like most others traveling to Ciudad Juarez, we needed a place to stay while completing our immigrant visa appointments. We stayed for 3 nights. There are many hotels in this area due to the American Consulate being nearby. What drew us to La Quinta was the good reviews, shuttle service, complimentary breakfast, and free wi-fi throughout the hotel. As far as the safety of the area is concerned, we felt safe and the 24 hour security, surveillance, and entrance gates provided added peace of mind. Directly across from the hotel is a small center of restaurants that provide a variety of food. We ate at the sushi place, but there was also a Mexican restaurant. Lunch and dinner can be purchased at the hotel. There is a small menu providing some salads, Mexican dishes, and drinks. You may not expect much from a hotel kitchen, but the food was excellent and filling! As anyone who is going through the visa process knows, there is a LOT of waiting time. We spent much of this time at the pool. Ciudad Juarez is hot and the pool provided a nice break from the weather. The grounds were well-kept and clean. The front desk will provide towels if needed. The wi-fi worked as well outside as it did throughout the rest of the hotel. The shuttle service was very convenient. The consulate, clinics, and ASC (which are all right next to each other) are about a 5 minute ride from La Quinta. At the time of our stay, the shuttle left every half hour. If for some reason you missed it or needed to leave at a time not on this schedule, there were always taxis waiting outside the front gate. The ride to the consulate area from La Quinta costs $50 pesos. Lastly, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. We did use both the microwave and refrigerator and there is a nice desk where you can spread out to review your visa paperwork or use the computer. Some toiletries are provided by the hotel including conditioning shampoo, lotion, and soap. In addition to the pool, there are a lot of cable channels to watch. All of the staff was very nice and I would recommend this hotel to anyone headed to Juarez for whatever reason!
