“the best place in town”

This hotel is a beauty on a hilltop on the outer rim of the city. The view of Chihuahua is breathtaking at sunrise. It seems to be a bit out of the way but actually it's only a cheap cab ride away from downtown. They will radio for your cab right from the lobby and it will be there in just a minute as they close but out of sight. Driving here is crazy so I would not recommend. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and there is no worries in this town if you don't speak Spanish. We stayed on the concierge floor but didn't get to take advantage of the private breakfast as we were there on the weekend and it was closed. We did eat a wonderful cook to order buffet breakfast. Great choices, hot food and good service. The rooms are very comfortable and upscale. There is a computer room where everyone has free access to the internet. They have an upscale dining room there that looked great but we didn't get a chance to dine there. The city is clean, friendly and has a lot of historical places to visit. We were there for the PBR bullriding and went on to the Copper Canyon train. All in all a fantastic trip.

  • Liked — the rooms and friendly staff
  • Disliked — the concierge floor was mostly unavailable

“Taking advantage of the Brand Name !!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2006

Almost every time I go to Chihuahua, Mexico, I stay at the Westin Soberano. 20 times at least for the last 3 years. The only reasons for doing so are the location and the Internet Connection because the rest of what anyone would expect, it is just not there. And the tariff against what you get in return is just ridiculous. Rooms: hair on pillows, blankets or towels is common, air conditioning very often not working, and shower system too old to allow you to get the right water temperature, broken sinks with water leakages, the room is too tiny to sit down and work comfortably on the desk, if you are lucky your conditioned air will not be mixed with the smells coming out of the main kitchen of the hotel. Service: do not think of reaching the hotel with heavy luggage because half of the time there’s no one to help you out with it, and, after 10:30 PM all bell boys are already off; besides that, if you carry wheeled suitcases, you have to search for the ramps and walk twice more to reach the reception. Events: prices for booking rooms are ridiculously higher than any other hotel in the city and in the country, taking advantage of the Westin Brand. It is a real shame that there is no other new hotel in town, no matter what decent category, in which one could really get value for money. Hotel owners should start thinking of investing for refurbishing the whole place to keep so high tariffs!

I spent a week at the Westin Soberano Chihuahua on business....It was perfect...the staff is excellent and helps with everything....I stayed on the Executive floor (5) and I recommend that....There is an Executive Bar on the floor offering food, drink, and happy hour every night....The food at the restaurants is great....No problems at all...Check-in/out was quick and easy....Room service is prompt and professional....There's an infinity edge pool and is very nice....If you are in Chihuahua, I highly recommend this place....

“Excellent Business Hotel”

I have stayed at the Westin several times on business. This is an excellent hotel for a business trip. I would not recommend this hotel for a family or group looking for a party. This is a nice place to stay when you're away from your family at home, it's relaxing, it has good food, the staff treats you well, and the beds are great. The rooms have high speed internet access and you'll never have a probem getting a drink at the bar. Also - no worries with the water. I have eater here and drank from the tap about 30 times and I've never had a problem.

“All the comforts of home, but none of Mexico”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2005

This is undoubtedly the nicest hotel in Chihuahua. Had all the high standards of a Westin, including very comfortable beds. Its a ways out of town (about a 40 minute drive from the airport), on a hillside that has very nice views of the city at night. If you want a Mexican experience, however, this isn't the place to stay. We wanted to celebrate our first night in Mexico, so went to the restaurant and ordered a margarita, which was overpriced and just dreadful. The food in the restaurant was also very over-priced and not particularly appealing.

I'd recommend this hotel if you want all the comforts of home (the u.s. for us), but don't expect to feel like you are in Mexico.
