“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Let me first say that I loved being at this hotel. It was a sight for sore eyes while in TJ. I loved the golf course room with the balcony. There were some difficulties, which I'll share with you.
When I arrived ar the hotel, I was immediately welcomed, and given the letter for Gold Members. However, I wanted a golf course view with a balcony, and I was told that there were none available. However, looking at the amount of people at the hotel, I find that hard to believe. I was also told that I would be able to have the room the next day, and that we should pack our things, and we would be moved while we were in absentia. That was basically a lie. We were never moved. I had to insist we get the room, and fineally we did. It was then a lovely room, but the toilet was broken, and ran consistenly, until we had to take the top off and adjust ourselves. We then couldn't flush all night, because we didn't want to hear it. I loved the second room though. I wish I could have been put there in the first place, then I could relax the whole trip...maybe even put some things away, and out of my suitcase. Ricardo, who was a wonderful valet, took us to our destinations and picked us up. That was beyond the call and I apprciated it. He was a Godsend. I also was overcharged for nearly $40 when I got home. Something that was not on my discharge bill. I'm uncertain what that is, and feel strange about this. Had to call my Marriott credit card to see what the charge was. It was not explained to me. Still waiting.
Overall, though, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in TJ for any reason. I had a heck of a time finding it, though. I suggest getting really detailed and accurage directions before attempting to drive there yourself.

Room Tip: Ask for a golf course view. It' s lovely

The good and bad thing about this hotel was that it's about 5 minute, $5 cab ride to all the "downtown" stuff. Overall it was a very good stay and you can usually get a standard room here for cheap. Don't avoid it just because of the low price. The hotel room is setup and sized no different than any other standard hotel room. All we did was sleep the previous night off.

Free Tip: Do not bring a rental car into Mexico. We parked on the US side of the border. Tijuana has the craziest taxi drivers in the world.

“Treated like a QUEEN!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Ok, so any of you that read my post on hotels will always notice there has to be a good bed, clean rooms and the rest has so many Variables....When you travel alot, you are much more realistic as to what you may encounter. Every hotel, city and country, from beds, food, location and service is a surprise each and every time. I don't care who the hotel chain is, they all vary based on the great skills of the management or the lack of. When you spend your hard earned money for that once a year vacation or on an unexpected trip or weekly business trip, you look at sights like "Trip Advisor" for help. This hotel greated me every single time I walked to the front door (noticed how I said to the front door and not thru), opened the door and asked if there was anything they could do for me. Luggage, bags, whatever I might be carrying was carried immediatly, room service was expedient and so very polite! The front desk so very polite, every employee was so very very polite. No problem here with U.S. Money or Pesos, they quickly service you with both. The bed, OMG comfortable with pillows everywhere, the room and bathroom clean as a whistle (is there really a clean whistle LOL). I was a bit scared about going into Tijuana and I have got to say with glowing reviews I was more than happy with this hotel and staff. Hats off to the management for a job well done. Its not too often I get the chance to write a review as good as this. Oh did i mention how BEAUTIFUL it is? Sigh.....I do have to stop bragging about the Tijuana Marriott at some point!

Room Tip: I stayed twice in one week, I like the room with the king bed better only because the mattress seeme...

“Looking to Throw Away Money? Go to this hotel -experienced traveler”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

I'm booked a single night stay in an executive suite. It was a waste of money. I've stayed at Marriots in various states, and and other countries, and this was by far the worst experience. I would say I received a $65 room but paid over $150 and stayed only 8 hours. Frankly, I feel like I was fleeced. I could have had a better experience at a Motel 6. I pay over $150 a night to avoid the following:

1. Terrible service. I requested extra towels and a smoking room. I received neither. Try two towels in the room for my girlfriend and me.

2. Embrace the cold: The heater fan worked but it blew cold air (even on the hightest setting); 30 c. I was told by Francisco, at the front desk during my fourth call to wait 20 to 30 minutes for the air to become warm. It never did. This was ater the following happened.

3. It was 12:00 am, I was exhausted, an called Francisco 3 times times over a 45 - 55 minute period to have someone unlock the refrigerator/minibar. I had been told each time someone would be right up. I had offered at the 30 minute mark even to come down and pick up the key, but was told I could not, (so much for quickly grabbing a snack and going to bed!)

4. Check out. This is the kicker. It took about 20 minutes. No hyperbole. Geraldo was a the front desk w/ a few other workers standing around. I asked Geraldo a few times what was happening as he shuffled papers, and I stood freezing. It was crazy like this was a common event for check out. The first time, he related that someone had to check the minibar usage before I could leave. All this for some almonds, I thought. Thinking a few hours before, it took almost an hour for someone to "open the refrigerator." I explained to him how despite checking in just before 11 a.m., I was checking out due to the above. His response - " The heater didn't work?" I was thinking how is that new news? Thanks again Geraldo! Next time, say to the customer, "On behalf of the Tijuana Marriot I apologize. How can we make this up to you etc?

5. Wifi didn't work. There were several signals, but apparently no bandwith or they were too faint. Thanks again Marriot!

And Geraldo 20 minutes later passed me my bill for for over $150 dollars for my less than 8 hour stay. This included: 1 bottle of water, 1 can of Almonds and a crappy room with an okay view just next to the executive lounge where everything was under lock and key. (What's the point of the executive floor? If no one staffs it, and everything is LOCKED down).

I walked out of the hotel freezing and sick at 6 a.m despite going in w/ the intention of extending my stay.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel w/ a heater. Cost to value isn't there w/ this hotel.

“Great place for business stopovers...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

The hotel provides excellent amenities to get your work done quick and convenient. Its situated at a popular area of the city and there are lots of good places to eat around and are walkable. The hotel's restaurant has some really tasty food. The breakfast buffet cannot go wrong with the spread they have. Wifi is free and there's a gym and swimming pool to get your active ride on.

Room Tip: Golf view rooms are best, AAA membership, pick breakfast included if possible.
