My wife and I recently stayed at this Residence Inn in Real del Mar. We read the reviews on the Trip Advisor website and were not expecting much. The facilities were pretty good for a Mexican hotel. If you ever stayed at any major hotel chain in Mexico, you know that the standards are not necessarily the same as in the U.S. I have stayed at Crowne Plaza in Acapulco and found it to be of lower quality than this Residence Inn. What a gem this place was. Only 15,000 Marriott Rewards points per night! Take the entire family!

The rooms were spacious and clean. The maid were a bit frugal on providing many towels and soaps.

The breakfast was great (pancakes, beans, rice, eggs, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit juice, coffee, milk)

Please note that the hotel is NOT easy to find. Google maps, Yahoo maps, and Mapquest will not provide driving directions from the US into Mexico. It is off the Toll road (Tijuana Beaches/Ensenada), off the Real del Mar exit (about 20 minutes from downtown TJ. The toll is $2.25.

There is no large sign to the hotel, so don't think you will see a well lit sign. Also once you get into the Real del Mar complex it will point you to the Marriott, not Residence Inn.

I would also recommend the Fox Studio Tour while you are in the area. This place is great for $12! It is what Universal Studios use to be, before it became a tourist trap.

My telephone reservation was made with a wonderfully pleasant bi-lingual clerk named Veronica. She was capable and friendly. Upon arrival, we wer pleasantly greeted by a different woman. Our room was a 1 bedroom suite that was in very good condition, except for the grout around the tub. It was clean and had a wonderful ocean view. The golf course is challenging, to say the least. The Clubhouse morning bartender makes the best Bloody Marys I think I've ever had.

All in all, a very nice golf resort for a very decent weekday price. Would say again.

This hotel was generally on par with a Residence Inn in the US and so was the price. Certainly not a bargain just because its in Mexico. Beautiful elevated location overlooking the sea. Included hot/cold breakfast buffet was adequate. Free beers at happy hour were great after a long drive in traffic to get there. Staff were very polite and pleasant to deal with. Room was clean and tidy with a full size fridge and kitchen facilities. The only complaint is that we woke up the second day to find a half inch of icy cold water covering the bathroom floor. We were checking out that day so we didn't hang around to find out the cause but it seemed like the water was dripping from the ceiling.
Onsite restaurant offered good quality food for dinner at $20-35 per main course. Choice of wines was limited to a couple of reds and whites identified and described only by their varietals.
Be prepared to pay approximately $2.50 USD toll each way on the highway from Tijuana.
All in all, if we had to go back to this part of the world we'd probably stay at this hotel again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful property at the Residence Inn Real del Mar in Tijuana. Our king suite room overlooked the ocean and the immaculate golf course. The complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby was more than ample (eggs, potatoes, breads, muffins, cereals, juices, oatmeal) and the happy hour was a nice touch from 5-7 p.m. daily (get there early). Had a massage in the spa which was wonderful, while my boyfriend played nine holes on this long and challenging course. Not all that far from Ensenada and Puerto Nuevo (you've got to go there for the lobster!). The toll roads are nice but can get expensive if you're traveling back and forth daily; might want to opt for the non-toll roads which were well-kept, just slower-moving due to traffic signals. Didn't try the high-end restaurant on property, but it looked a bit pricey and underutilized. Close to the border for easy access. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would easily go back there again. The front desk , spa, golf and bell staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. An all-around winner!
