“Mediocre at Best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2010

My husband traveled to thie city on business and I accompanied him. First of all the facility is more a motel than a hotel. The parking lot is next to the rooms and we were bothered by someone constantly beeping his/her car horn after midnight. The air conditioner was very noisy, you could not hear the television ( small and very old)
with the AC on high, therefore we had to lower the fan to hear the TV.

My husband discovered the shower would not drain properly and he was standing in over an inch of water as he tried to get ready for his meeting. I was required to use sandals to shower. It was a good thing they were waterproof. We were informed that we could only partake the complementary continental breakfast if we went to the restaurant between 7 and 9 am, not one minute later. After our long drive we opted for room service and ordered coffee ( Cafe con Leche) and toast. These were brought right away however, we were brought a pot of black coffee and the toast only came with margarine, not butter. by the time we got our milk, our toast was cold; as they would not provide us with new, warm toast.

We reported our problems to management at the front desk but shall never return to this hotel.

“Fire the Chef!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2009

Great accommodations. Quiet, well-kept, clean, pleasant staff that bends over backwards to assure a nice stay. However, they need to fire the chef! After being thoroughly disappointed with my room service breakfast, I thought I would order for dinner a hamburger and fries. I mean who can screw that up? They did.

“Great Experience in Tijuana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2009

I visit Tijuana often (1-2 times per month) and have stayed at a few different location. Hacienda Del Rio was by far the best experience. I have stayed at this hotel 5 times and I have never had a complaint.

The restaurant is fantastic for breakfast/lunch but I would recommend venturing out to the many top-notch restaurants in the area for dinner.

The location is perfect, a quick cab to Revolucion and walking distance to pretty much anything you would need. For some good Mexican beer at night, ask the front desk how to walk (only 3 minute walk) to the bar called Pockets. This is a biliards bar and you can order your own mini tap from them. Basically you pour your own beer out of a 2 liter tube that is ice cold, a very exciting experience for a beer lover.

The hotel amenities were perfect. I often visit this hotel on business trips and I am constantly needed an Internet connection. They do not have wireless (as of last time I was there) but they have a business center that usually has a computer open. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is amazing and I hope I get to go see them again soon. People who do not speak Spanish can get by easily but it always helps if you know a little Espanol. There is a pool which looks fine but I have not used it. The bar is nice but I recommend venturing out to the local bars (ask the front desk where to go). For the price you pay, this is the best value in Tijuana.

“Not bad...but skip the restaurant”

While on business at a local cancer clinic, the Doctor booked me here for my 4 day stay. I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Plenty of bottled water along the walkways, good service and clean rooms.
I was disappointed that the TV reception was all cable with NO over the air San Diego stations so the English speaking station were limited to 2.
The hotel restaurant is okay for breakfast, but look elsewhere for your dinner plans.

  • Liked — Friendly, pleasant atmosphere
  • Disliked — English is spoken at a minimum.

“Good hotel, clean and inexpensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2008

We spend one night at the Hacienda in January 2008. The hotel is in a Spanish/colonial style, it has a big internal patio and two floors of rooms overlooking the patio, where you can park your car. I am not a big fan of high rises, so I liked the fact that the hotel runs on two floors only. There is also a swimming pool, which was so and so in January (but it was cold too, so it wasn't in use). In the patio there is lush vegetation, and the staff was friendly.

THe rooms were decorated in the 70s, in white and pink, they were pretty clean, maybe they could use some renovation, but overall the linens and the bed were fine, so were the towels, and the room was HUGE, which we liked!! It also had cable TV and phone.

The hotel has a laid back feel, if you expect a modern complex this is not the place for you, but if you want a comfortable, reasonably priced, clean hotel, with a local feel, this is a good option. Also, we needed to use the internet, the hotel didn't have it, but across the street there is a big hotel, where you can use their business center for a charge.

In the area, I recommend dining at La Querencia, very good Med-Mex food!!
