“Changes at Las Palmas”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2005

Stayed at Las Palmas during the annual Shrimp Festival in November. The restaurant/bar is no longer operating. The pool is unheated and quite cool. The room was large, clean and quiet. The quiet was probably due to the fact that the hotel was only 1/4 occupied. I was quoted a room rate of $65. over the phone and I reserved the room with a credit card. Upon arrival I was advised that the rate was $77. As there were two people. Hmmm. With a 7% tax I paid $164.23 for two nights. Not outrageous but similar to the rates at the El Cortez which is on the beach and has a heated pool and a restaurant/bar on site. I would stay here again only if other hotels were booked.

“Dirty Las Palmas”

Toilet leaked on the bathroom floor, and it appeared to have never had the outside of it washed. Cobwebs and dirt all around the walls and drop panel ceiling, especially the corners. The wash the tile floors and it had clean sheets and clean but stained towels. As usual for most small mexico hotels, be sure you bring your own shampoo, wash cloths, etc.

“nice”

it is a little run down, but clean.the rooms are very basic.the tv only has 4 chanels, only in Spanish, in the day and age of cheap satellite TV...the pool is clean but you can't sit and have a beer at the pool, you have to go out of the pool area and sit by the BBQs to have your drinks.the restaurant and bar are closed(good thing there is an AM/PM about a block and a half away)and the staff is so so. They come by and knock on your door at 10am checkout day so you dont sleep in, if you can't find another place to stay it is ok.just a little pricey(@80 per night). The cortez is a little nicer and has a bar and is right on the beach for the same price.Overall Ok, not comfortable to have somebody from front desk knocking on ur door an 10 AM when ur checkout time is at 11 AM.....

“An excellent experience for the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2004

I went on a road trip with three friends this October to explore Baja a bit and to stay at this hotel. I did not know what to expect. We had arranged a fishing package through a website (--------) that included 5 days, four nights stay, and two days of fishing on a 'super' cruiser. All meals were included in the package, which cost around $450 per person. It was considered a deluxe package, with two people sharing one room.
The rooms were somewhat spare, with a double and two single beds per room, and a dresser and closet space to store things. A/C in both rooms which worked perfectly. The floors were tile. There was no TV but 110v electrical outlets were there to plug in the laptop. The bathroom was clean and functional, shower only. We were situated on the ground floor in front of the pool which turned out to be providential for us.
The pool is a fantastic place to lounge- the setting is tropical and very beautiful. All the staff were very nice helpful (the maid did my rather large bag of laundry for a $4.00 tip!).
Our fishing package was superb as well.
The meals were good but a la carte was not available (although I did not ask, either). We were served whatever was on the menu for that night. We did not go hungry.
Overall the experiece was excellent. I was not expecting the Four Seasons (and it is not ) but I also did not expect to find such a nice hotel in such a remote place for such a little price. I highly recommend it, especially if you enjoy world-class fishing!

“Quiet, clean, expensive”

I was there for labor day 2003, $95 p/night. Quiet, clean, no remote for TV, 1 HBO channel and 2 local. Your friends cannot swim in pool or spend time w/you in hotel. No phone nor clock. Some rooms AC not working we had to switch rooms for that reason. From 1 - 10 I rate it 6.
