“Good value, friendly - a little inconvenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

This is a good hotel for the price. Steve (the on-site owner) is very friendly and offered fresh clams to us and several guests the first night. We appreciated the free water jugs (unlike the mission hotel that only gives you free water the first night - jeeze).

The showers have a small hot water tank. I guess my main issue was that it's a bit out of the way and not a very pleasant walk into town. (Got tired of the long dirt driveway with scrappy little dogs.)

Also, Barrett (the brother/proprietor who handles bookings) told us there was no rooster nearby when we were told by another hotel there was - and there was, on the adjacent property. It only woke me up once, but still - I asked about it specifically. The Malecon is still pretty close, but you can close the windows to the cabanas and generally drown out the cars blasting banda music.

“THE place to stay in Loreto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

Stephen is a very welcoming host and a fantastic source of information. Accommodations are comfortable and very reasonable. With all they have to offer here there may not be a better value in all of Baja. Heated pool, barbecue, kitchenette, and more... everything you need for a long stay. Plus I'm writing this review on site with the complimentary wifi. Highly recommended.

“i wish there were 10 stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

Five stars, six stars, seven stars... How about all the stars in the heavens? Coco Cabanas and Steven deserve them all. This is the real deal. We just spent a perfect week in Loreto and Coco Cabanas is the perfect base of operations. Clean, peaceful and laid back. Conveniently located to everything Loreto has to offer. And... a screaming deal.

I have one suggestion to everyone who is planning on staying at Cocos. Hear and obey every suggestion Steven has to offer. You will not be disappointed. The trip to San Xavier, whale watching at Magdelina Bay, Yellow tail fishing right out of the marina, restaurant suggestions, you name it Steven's word is gold.

Like Arnold Schwarzenegger. "We'll be back."

“clean, super value, heated pool, close to beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

Cocos Cabanas is the best holel, especially if travelling with a spouse. Friendly staff, wonderful, quiet, specious guesthouses and, though a short block from the beach, close to the historic mission for shopping and good restaurants.
Steven is a great host and will help you find anything you need.

“The reviews are correct; this is where you want to stay.”

1) Stephen, on-site owner / manager, knows all and will reveal it willingly to plan your stay from eating, to hiking, to which gas to buy, which beer shop to hit, to the menus in town and to the side trips out of town. He knows about fishing which was not our interest, but is for some visitors.
2) location is central in the town, but off the streets that can sometimes have lots of traffic with loud cars (most other hotels seem to have this issue).
3) rooms with kitchens and outside grill gave lots of options. Spotless. Other visitors nice and friendly. Grounds well kept if not immaculate.
4) booking efficient and leaving sad. Reliable wifi.
5) C.C. allows you to experience the town and its people (you do not need a car) and is close to all sights and places to eat. Good running road a block away. Beach is a block; boats about 2. You get to intermingle in town walks with the locals, but no one tries to sell you anything!
6) We stayed in the cabanas; newer one and two bedrooms "apartments" on site which we toured and found even more attractive.
