“Much better than expected!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We are enjoying Loreto again, and thanks to host Steven making the right choices around town. Our suite and service could not be better, and the location off the road and a few blocks away from the Malecon is ideal. For those who are first time visitors to Baja, there are roosters here, as well as dune buggies and some of the most powerful car sound systems on the planet. Being just a short distance off the beaten track has its benefits.

Room Tip: Suites are fabulous, and there are whole casitas for larger groups/families.

“Coco Cobanas is wonderful hidden gem in Loreto. The units are fully updated, clean and many options to chose from.”

Two pools surrounded by palm trees is your first impression. As you check out the Cobanas or the newer casitas you will notice unique decor and little things that make each unit a home. We loved this place, Stephen and his wife are on top of my list of friendliest hosts I have had the privilege to meet.

I hope to come back to June or July to check out the fishing... again.

I travel extensively in Mexico with a house in central Mexico.

“Not a five star hotel, but a five star stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

If you are looking for a luxurious five-star resort, Coco Cabanas is not for you. BUT if you are looking for an affordable, clean, convenient spot to park while you explore Loreto, this is a sure bet!

We stayed in the "old" cabanas....the smaller units that ring the lower pool. We also toured the brand new, two story units, which also ring a pool above. They are gorgeous, and if we were travelling with more people we would choose them. The upper pool is surrounded by cabanas and palms, and is protected from wind. The buildings are low enough to allow sunlight to the pool up until about 4:30pm, but high enough to keep out the wind....the perfect combination.

The cabanas are about two blocks off the beach and walking distance to just about everywhere, the Malecon, the town square, restaurants, fish markets, the Isste, etc. The owner, Stephen handed us a map upon check-in that identified all shops and restaurants, gas stations, etc. He helped us reserve a car, told us when whales were spotted on the Pacific side, gave us the language and instructions to do tasks like the locals and could answer any question we had about the area, customs, shopping, sight-seeing, you name it.

Important to know about Loreto: December through March are windy months, though sunny and around 73 or 74 degrees. Some of the hotels (especially the nicer ones) are right on the Malecon or beach. They are absolutely buffeted by the wind and their pools are on the water side as well. Because of the natural eastern exposure of Loreto, some hotel pools situated like this lose sunlight by about 1:00pm, and no sun combined with wind makes for a cold poolside. There is also an unfortunate sewer smell (because of the placement of sewer vents) near the Malecon that affects hotels situated there. After walking all over town and seeing the different hotels we had seen on the web, we were even more pleased with our choice of Coco Cabanas.

Top notch service, clean and comfy, great local direction and insider advice, terrific location.....We will stay there again soon, and often!

Room Tip: Older cabanas at lower pool have full kitchen and either one or two beds. These have showers, no tub...

“Perfect spot, Quiet, Safe, Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

This is located not on the Malecon which is preferable as it is walking distance and very quiet. You can even rent a whole villa in lieu of a lock off to have a full kitchen and 2 bedrooms for a family. We stayed here one night before heading to Villa Palmar and wish we had another night here. Steven is super friendly and knowledgable. He recommended a wonderful restaurant and even gave us margarita vouchers. (Isles) This place is simple yet offers great ammenities such as a pool, and morning coffee. (wish the hot tub was working and wish there was a fridge to store our leftovers) Those were my only wants. I think it is not typical needing a hot tub, but december can get cold. We would stay here again without a doubt, very reasonable as well!

Room Tip: ask them about their choices, they have a variety of rooms for your budget

“New casitas are superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

No better place to spend a week or two by the pool in Loreto. The new casitas exceedced our expectations. We stayed with another couple in a two-bedroom), two-story casita. Rooms on ground floor were extremely clean (as of February 2011); both had full baths. Upstairs we shared a kitchen/dining living room with bathroom and spacious deck, tv, vcr, the works. Stephen took care of our every request, made rental car arrangements, etc. Pool and hot tub were just getting earmed up. Walk to central Loreto is three blocks on back streets. Beach is less than two blocks away (can be seen from upstairs). No better place to stay in Loreto, for sure.
