This recommendable boutique hotel is situated in a beautiful antique mexican building. In the entrance hall you feel like being in a Riad somewhere in Marrakesh - very tasteful decoration allover the place.

There is a nice rooftoop pool from where you can the Sea of Cortez. We enjoyed some lazy afternoons reading a book up there. Breakfast is also served up there and there's nothing to complain about the breakfast.

The location is great in the heart of Loreto old town as you have nice little restaurants nearby and a tapas bar next door. BUT ... on Friday nights, when the local people go out it is extremely noisy. We couldn't sleep for hours because they drive kind of a circuit through town to show their tuned cars. They usually listen to the music so loud, that the alarm system of the other cars start working ... This was only on Friday and Saturday night, Sunday was very quiet.

  • Liked — Central location, friendly staff, rooftop pool, style
  • Disliked — Noise from the cars Friday and Saturday night until 3 in the morning

Spent 4 nights, while sport fishing, at Posada. The hotel is unquestionably the better hotel in town. The 3 staff personal were pleasant and accomodating to every inquiry..but it is helpful to be fluent in Spanish. The location is amenable to everything in town. The Borrocan decor is old and very dusty, especially in the courtyard. The rooms are clean, charming and comfortable--for a couple (we chose an upstairs suite). Sample pictures are representative on their website, but cleverly cropped. 70 channels to choose from on the television--only two broadcast in English. Continental breakfast only. Pool is not really conducive to swimming. AC is adequate and an absolute neccessity--wherever you stay in Loreto, as it will be one of the hottest places you will ever travel to..esp in July-Aug. The people, culture and authenticity of an old Mexico town with the surrounding natural resources make this a worthy experience. If you are in search of a true 4 or 5 star resort, go to Cabo or elsewhere.

  • Liked — Architecture. Old doors. Attitude.
  • Disliked — No internet access. Stairs. Very dusty. Noise from outside Cantina patronts.

Not worthed what you pay, very poor service (they do not have the restaurant neither a small kitchen), terrible breakfast (only cold stuff), very poor decoration of the rooms, ridiculous swimming pool (3 metersX 3meters), not adequate air conditioning. Clearly overpriced for the area.

This is a very lovely hotel, in an old Spanish hacienda style with a winding staircase, dark wood and stone floors. The staff was pleasant enough and the room a decent size with a king-sized bed and nice bathroom area. The rooftop area has a great 360 view of the city, mountains and ocean and a nice pool and lounging area.

However, considering the cost of living in the town itself and price of the hotel just for the standard room, I would have expected a little more. The room was fairly dark since it only had a window to the courtyard. The items in the minibar were outrageously priced and they only provided 2 small bottles of water for free with the room. The pool was nice, though a little small and not well filtered so there were lots of bugs floating on the top. The other people staying there were all American or European as not many Mexicans would be able to afford it so I felt really isolated from the people in the town.

I would recommend staying at a smaller, less expensive place and get more for your money.

  • Liked — The style of the hote.
  • Disliked — Staff a little stuffy; pool not clean; low value

We stayed two nights at this hotel and found it to be really charming, clean and in an excellent location for an introduction to Loreto. It is right across the street from the only bank and across the square from what proved to be the best restaurant in town. The continental breakfast was excellent. The staff was friendly, but not particularly useful. No ice machine, so for ice you must call to order and then tip. All rooms are up some stairs. They have tv in the room if you like CNN and some movies. The view from the roof (pool and restaurant where only breakfast is served}. It wiykd have been claustrophobic for a longer stay.
