We stayed 1 night at the Hotel Plaza in January. We chose it by reading the reviews on the hotel. Given the reviews, I was very disappointed and it was far too expensive for what you got. The position is central but very noisy. Loreto is a small town and not a busy place but you could hear the noise of cars driving past all night. The reception area is close to the rooms and the man on reception seemed to clear his throat every couple of minutes and this was clearly heard in the rooms. When you walked into the rooms they did not feel at all clean and there were urine stains on the bed covers. The towels were absoltuely threadbare and did not dry anything - they should have been replaced long ago. The other thing was that the shower water did not achieve more than mildly lukewarm. We spent 2 weeks travelling around the baja peninsula in January and this was by far the worst value hotel we stayed in. We stayed in cheaper hotels that were far far better. I certainly would not recommend the hotel - I think it would not be hard to find better.

I stayed here when Hurricane John hit southern Baja in late August 2006. One night turned into 5 nights. The staff was friendly and went out of the way to help us. They had a selection of vhs movies to watch in your room. The place is very simple and very affordable. If you are visiting Loreto on a budget, stay here. Fantastic location too.

Stayed at Loreto Plaza in Loreto in June '06. Lots of worldwide travel experience, including lots of Mexico. We found the hotel to be OK, but $52 is pushing the envelope for the place. Not lots of options in Loreto, but this place is clean & in the center of town, only 3 blocks from the waterfront & has good AC. Only complaint was the bedding. When we turned down the bed the sheets looked so filthy that we immediately went to the front desk & asked for clean sheets. The manager was very pleasant & expressed surprise & went to the room. He pointed out that the sheets were not really dirty, but just very badly stained & we agreed, but he provided clean sheets. However, once the sheets become so horribly stained that a guest thinks they are too dirty to sleep on, it is time to stop using them. Would we stay there again? Yes. However, we would check the sheets again & stain or no stains, we wouldn't sleep on sheets that look like these did.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Plaza Loreto. The location was within walking distance of the beach, food & shopping. The hotel was clean and neat. We reserved a triple (3 bed) room for $54 a night. The room was by far the nicest I've had in Mexico. The beds were a little hard, however. Note that the hotel sits on the town's main street. We heard a lot of vehicle noise during our stay because our room faced the street. The hotel was safe, well kept (ie- not run down) and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. To settle the bar/no bar argument- when I was there last month, there was an area that looked like it used to be a bar/restaurant. It is no longer being used as a bar. That area is being used now for meetings.
