“Unbelievable Experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011 via mobile

What an interesting way to run a business. We booked the honeymoon suite & paid for 3 days of our 5 day stay weeks in advance, as the rules required. An email was sent to us the DAY BEFORE check-in (we were elsewhere in Mexico) stating that our room had accidentally been given to someone else & we wouldn't be able to have it until two and a half days later. Arlaine explained that we could stay in one of two smaller rooms (at even less of a discount than we were originally getting).

We don't normally splurge & get the best room in a hotel, so we'd been really looking forward to this special part of our trip & to not having to re-pack & move for 5 whole days. We had luckily checked our email in Cabo the night before we drove to La Paz & replied, telling Arlaine of our disappointment & saying we'd decide what to do when we got there.

At the end of our 3+ hr drive we arrived to find a NOTE ON THE DOOR TELLING US TO GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL. We were no longer even welcome on the property and no one would even give us the courtesy of receiving us?!?! Wow. Welcome to La Paz... now go away. I've never experienced anything remotely like this in 20 years of traveling.

“Charming Inn would stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

This Inn was recommended to me by the owner of the kayaking company who I was doing a trip with out of Loreto.

The firnishing are eclectic, tasteful and fun. I was sorry to see that it was for sale.

We stayed in the room off the inner courtyard. It was very clean and comfortable.

“Been there done that can't wait to return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2010

Casa La Paz is a lovely, funky, homey, very convenient spot for travelers, solo or with spouse/pal, to La Paz. The big historic house is lovely, the innkeeper knows the town inside out and is very helpful The breakfasts great. All in all a good call. Have been several times and always return and can't wait to go back, hopefully this spring (2010). working on is right now!

“Cool, Quiet Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2008

Tranquil water fountain in the shady patio; delicious coffee and breakfast; ideal location just a block from the "malecon" promenade along the waterfront. Hostess Arlaine went out of her way to make us feel at home. It was a chaotic weekend due to the Baja road race, and we were glad to be in a hideaway rather than one of the noisy resorts. Ideal location; you won't need a car. Check out the original handicrafts from Arlaine's other home, Guatemala.

“Little and plesant inn near downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2007

On the website (casamex.com), we choose the "El Moro" room, a quiet one (not given on the street), which has a little kitchen and a nice balcony. It's middle size but the decoration is nice and it's clean. We spent there 3 nights and paid 85 US$ per night, continental breakfast included. We had breakfast in a nice interior patio but a little cold on the morning in this season.
The inn is well situated if you want to visit the old town by foot; we has a rental car and had no problem to park it in the street during our stay.
The landlord lady is nice and helpful and can help you arranging a trip to see the grey whales.
It's a place for people who want to relax, who like little inn. You can find nice restaurants and bars around and the malecon is only 300 metres away...
