HI,
We always stay here after paddling trips in the area. The kitchen and lovely patio on the roof create a perfect home-like atmosphere. The staff is very helpful if you need info about getting on the ferry or any other kid of local assistance. In fact, the same people have been working here for several years- little turnover. That's always a good sign.
They are a quick walk to the malecon, the marina, and many good restaurants. I like to bring my bike and ride around town, and also out of La Paz into the hills on mountain bike excursions.
They have secure parking inside the complex, and at night they lock up the entry to the upper level where guest rooms are. A clerk stays in the office all night until the day staff arrive, in case guests need help.
Sometimes, is hard to drag Jane away from this place to continue with our travels.
This is the perfect place to start and finish adventure travel trips. Mar Y Adventuras is based here as well, offering all manner of trips, gear rentals, shuttles. Guests seem very pleased with their experience on the trips.
Some ask about safety in Mexico, and Baja specifically. We kayak in the Sea of Cortez often- er well it's kind of an addiction. I've stopped counting at 3500 nautical miles of self-supported kayak trips there, between San Felipe and Cabo los Frailles.
I have seen little change over those many years, and have never been concerned for safety. Out on the islands and on the Baja coast , we have been welcomed into homes and fishing camps of many friendly folks, who wanted to share all they had with us.
I have hitched rides with Baja cowboys to get back to pick up the truck after kayaking, leaving Jane to wait with gear on the beach.
We hope you find this useful.
Cheers,
Jay & Jane

Dear Guest,
Thanks so much for your complimentary review of our hotel BUT even more importantly for your comments about your extensive experience traveling safely through Baja. The negative PR about violence in Mexico has hurt many of the lovely people who inhabit this wonderful country. It's nice to hear something positive about the friendly and helpful people that really represent Mexico and Baja in particular!
BIG kudos to you for this!
Sincerely,
Mary Harter, Owner
