We had the pleasure of being a guest of Gail and Chalo at Las Gaviotas January 18th to 22nd, 2012. Firstly the room was huge 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and balcony where the view I'm sure is 2nd to none in La Paz!

The morning gathering by the pool at breakfast made a wonderful start to our action packed day in La Paz first some wonderful conversation then a yummy and nutritious breakfast.

We went to La Paz mainly for the water activities and my husband managed to check off swimming with whale sharks from his bucket list - such a momentous occasion and we didn't have to spend days and hours searching our very first morning there we took a walk along they malecon saw a boat for hire and for a mere $25 we were on our way out looking for the whale sharks within 45 minutes of embarking on our adventure my husband was in the water trying to keep up with an 18 foot whale shark.

We discussed our interest in heading out for the day to the island and originally were planning on booking the same company that we went out whale sharking with however Gail filled us in on a smaller more personal operator and we went with them and had a fantastic day, great lunch, dolphins, hump backs, sea lions, frigget birds, flying manta rays and the list goes on all for a very reasonable fee.

All in all we had a fantastic time and will definately return and bring another couple or maybe our boys to share the suite as there was loads of room and of course return to visit our new friends Gail, Chalo and Brad.

Room Tip: We stayed in 4D amazing view!

We love staying at Las Gaviotas Resort because
1) There is a grocery store with reasonable prices and a good selection of food close at hand
2) A variety of good restaurants are within a short distance
3) You can walk to downtown Las Paz in about 15 minutes for shopping and banking
4) There is a hospital within three blocks
5) Very helpful and friendly management couple, one who is native born American and another native born Mexican. They are both fluent in English and Spanish and familiar with both cultures.
6) We can have a good breakfast by the large pool every morning
7) Tours are available for fishing and whale watching
We have been going to Las Gaviotas Resort for eleven years now.

Room Tip: Corner suite are large ans sunny

We spent a lovely holiday at Las Gaviotas in La Paz, in January, 2012. This is not an ordinary hotel. The rooms at two bedroom suites, as it was formerly a time share facility. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. The view of the Sea of Cortez is wonderful, as was the lovely home cooked breakfast, which was included. The ten minute walk along the malacon (water front) put us right at the downtown area. Each afternoon, we would return and have a swim in the pool and relax on the tanning deck. We love La Paz, and we will stay at Las Gaviotas whenever we are able to return.

Room Tip: All the suites face the Sea of Cortez. The end suites have side windows, which give added light.

“Arrive as strangers but leave as Friends !!”

Just spent 3 wonderful days at Las Gaviotas Resort in Beautiful La Paz,BCS Mexico . It is a small well managed hotel 1 very short block off the Malecon ,a beautiful walkway along the bay. You can walk to restaurants and nice stroll along the water.
The building consists of a super secure ,clean ground floor garage with motorized gates .Lobby on same level. Elevator to take you to the upper 4 floors consisting of very spacious 2 bedroom /2 bath suites . Large balcony with beautiful views of La Paz Bay and the malecon. Views are mesmerizing ,just beautiful . 4 D on top corner is extra special. The room we had was nicely furnished with kitchen and nice eating areas . Great floor plan for 2 couples or family . Very large crystal clear pool area surrounded by tropical greenery and lots of hummingbirds . Heated pool ,sun lounging area . Best of all of this is the owners Chalo & Gail who make all feel welcome . Their included breakfast is awesome and consists of fresh juice ,yogurt and fresh fruit ,eggs and potatoes and we had fresh made bread-thanks Gail! This is a "Real Breakfast" not some cheesy donuts and canned yogurt and boxed cereal . Food was awesome ,eaten by the pool . Best of all this is the owners who are super hospitable ,friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you happy. We miss them already ,and tomorrow will miss their breakfast too ! Like I said your will come as strangers and leave as friends . We wish "Chalo" & Gail much success -they deserve it !! We will definitely be back and recommend Las Gaviotas to any who prefer a more warm local experience VS a sterile corporate feel . Go , enjoy and you too will see for yourself...

Room Tip: Top floors cost slightly more and corners are best , All are nice though.
