“Seven Crown- La Paz”

We stayed at this hotel December 22-25. The hotel is NOT a resort but it is a clean place located right on the Malecon in La Paz. Two people could shower in a row and then the water turned cold so for a family, plan accordingly. Our room faced Burger King which was open late but with the curtains closed the room was dark enough to sleep. This is not a room you want to hang out in but rather a jumping off point each morning and a place to sleep each night. Our kids loved the little stairway in our room but the balcony would not be safe for small kids to play and there is not room to sit outside on a chair. There is NO POOL! We were expecting a pool- there is a hot tub on the roof but it was not open while we were there. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We ate one dinner at the hotel restaurant- it was good. The rooftop bar has a beautiful view of the sunset and is a fun spot to hang out.

“looks good outside - but the rooms are minging ! avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

HORRID !! dont judge a book by its cover quite clearly . this hotel has a great location , tidy exterior and nice rooftop jacuzzi to look at [but its cold and unuseable] - and that is it . scratch a bit more and the rest is the pits .

the main PROBLEM is the rooms are nasty , absolutely horrible dated tired dark dingy low grade and old with minging tiles . beds are like sleeping on a sack or spanners such old battered skanky mattresses one of worst ever this isnt acceptable . pillows , well lets not go there its like a bag of socks you sleep on ... this isnt a pillow . bad old cheap metal framed prison beds bolted to wall .

and how noisy is it in your room as the air con is a hole in wall with 30 year old machine standing in the hole its not even properly fitted big gaps round it . as a consequesnce noise floods in from streets . its a 24x24" hole in the wall so for 24 hrs a day all day and nite trucks and heavy cars can be heard and local guys with massive sound systems pumping serious bass blast you . this noise combined with truly atrocious beds make it a hotel you will not get ANY sleep at any time day or note . then theres the noisy garage below , or bins or service/ people for burger king .

and cos of upside down split level reconverted [badly] room the air con unit is half covered by a bed and top half basts out onto your back where its place in the wall is. if you look then orig probably this position was the ceiling before conversion if you look at steps into room it makes sense, but now it is half over bed next to your back where you lie NITEMARE !!! it just stinks of cheap cheap cheap . and the bathroom shower is sweatyy too , the drains smelt of wee our bathroom .

also the rooms when you go in from corridor are all steps up where it got reconverted at one time and this massive box covers the door up tatty narrow cheap tiled steps into each room ???? dark brown tiles , nasty bathrooms , grubby showers , cheap fixtures , 1980s tiny box tv no english channels ... would not recommend this hotel at all - as while it looks great in pictures FROM THE OUTSIDE , and modern , the rooms suck big time .

the rooms have no amenities like fridge . the wardrobe is a metal pole like a student bedsit hanging from a wall - they dont have a wardrobe at all ?! the curtains dont close, they are too short, dont fit at the top, and arent wide enough . the are holed , old , tatty , and look like a recycled rag , at sunrise when the sun shines in its like daylight everywhere they simply do not fit . comical . the recption of hotel has a sign behind saying "seven crown la paz - business class hotel" hahahaaaa more like homeless class .

also the rooftop bar they open 1 hour AFTER sunset ? huh ?????? how odd when people want to drink and watch sunset o nthe roof?? and the rooftop jacuzzi is tiny but again similar story of this hotel - it looks good but its bloody freezing cold and unuseable . do not stay here its a massive dissapointment , cos from outside and in pics youd think you had a winner but it fails epicly . one side of hotel the rooms face a grey concrete wall 1m from window v dark . the other faces into burger king lol . when i left i felt dirty . yuk

nb - you MUST go to a la paz beach called balandra 10 mins drive away , youll really discover paradise . wow , stunning unlike this flea pit

Room Tip: choose another hotel ooms are horrible

“Great location. Worth it for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2011

The rooms are small and nothing to write home about. What makes this hotel great is the location. It is across the street from the beach. Right on the strip facing the ocean. Beautiful sights right from your window. On the strip, there are tons of restaurants and little boutiques of activities (bike and kayak rentals). surrounding the hotel, there are many great stores and some amazing restaurants.
Upstairs on the 4th floor, there's a very good restaurant. And on the top floor, there's a small pool. The staff there were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Great but better to call and negotiate a price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

This place was a perfect location for a solo traveler. I had booked online and accidentally put the wrong month in my reservation. They set me up with a room but at a new cost that was higher than I would have liked to pay but I didn't feel like lugging my stuff down the street to find a better deal. I would stay here again. But there was a hotel a couple blocks down that seemed packed every time I walked by. Next time I may stay there to see why.
