“Beautiful view of the harbour, but it's time to renovate the bathrooms!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

We stayed here twice and each time had a large room with a beautiful view overlooking the harbour. Unfortunately both rooms smelt strongly of drains - it's certainly time to renovate the plumbing! - and the walls are very thin. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and the service excellent. We found the people at Reception were friendly enough but were unhelpful with anything other than checking customers in and out. The pool area looked lovely and was well kept although we can't comment on the cleanliness of the water because it was too chilly to swim. The hotel's a little far out if you want to go to the centre of town and you'd need a car or a taxi. Taxis were always outside the hotel.

“Great hotel with an incredible view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

Our standard room was very comfortable and was big enough for all our luggage.
The Dinghy Dock restaurant, is very reasonably priced. We had 6 different meals there and all were excellent.

“Incredible views; incredible value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

After a nightmare 36-hour beginning to our two weeks in La Paz, we were thrilled to move to the Hotel Marina overlooking La Paz Bay for the remainder of our stay. Unlike the first location, which grossly misrepresented just about every aspect of their facility, the Hotel Marina is conveniently located at the north end of the Malecon and walking distance from pristine, swimable beaches and dozens of oceanfront restaurants, as well as watersport options (diving, snorkeling, kayaking, whale watching, etc.). No need for $25 cab rides into town from here to enjoy all that La Paz has to offer!

The hotel itself is immaculate and well maintained, and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the ultra-firmness of the beds, but was told that is standard in Mexico.

“nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

We really liked this place. The marina was beautiful. It was on the walking path on the water front. The rooms were nice. They had a special when we were there so we did get the room and breakfast for two for $75. usd. We will definately stay there again.

“OK if You Do Not Expect a Resort Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2010

I stayed at the Hotel Marina twice, at the beginning and end of a kayak trip. Both rooms were brightly painted with coordinating bedspreads, had clean sheets and towels, clean bathrooms and a flat screen TV. The first room had a pleasant view over the marina and everything was in good working order. The second room overlooked the parking lot, the bedspreads were dirty, the door was so askew in its frame that there was a gap, the bedside lamps were broken (one was even missing the switch), and the toilet plugged up on the morning of departure. Towels in both rooms were shabby. Although it is a long walk into town (about 30 minutes), the walk is along a pleasing seawall where many of the locals like to stroll. I also noticed the "sewer smell" mentioned by another reviewer; not strong, and mostly in the pool/lobby areas. The pool was acceptably clean on my visit. I found the restaurant to be rather good: the breakfast buffet is large with a variety of staples and Mexican cuisine, and the shrimp tacos (dinner) were outstanding. I would rate the first night's stay a 4 and the second night's stay a 2. I would not recommend this hotel because the quality of the rooms is highly variable and can be rather poor.
