We booked a 6-day stay at Hacienda Bugambilias online, after deciding that we didn't need something more upscale (or expensive). For the price, this place worked well for us. The staff is very friendly & helpful, tolerating our elementary Spanish, answered all our questions about the town, and generally provided us with excellent service. The courtyard is beautiful, especially at night when all the lights & pool lights are turned on. The food in the restaurant was great for us, and reasonably priced. The room was adequate -- two beds, tv, shower -- nothing fancy, maybe in need of some renovation, and maybe some better sheets, but okay for us. The biggest drawback is the location, which is about a mile from the main action on the malecon, but we simply caught a bus (for 8 pesos) when we didn't feel like adding 2 miles to our walks to get to restaurants & shops. Because it's located in a residential area, about 3 blocks off a less-active part of the malecon, it was really quiet; after spending 11 nights in Loreto, where the traffic on the malecon continues all night (subwoofers rattling the windows!), this was a welcome respite.
