“OK but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2010

Hotel Perla is located on the malecon which is great or not. The Saturday & Sunday we were there the malecon was closed to traffic for a celebration so if you are driving & need to get out it is a hassle. Also parking was limited & cramped & getting out of the garage required maneuvering around support pillars & a chest type freezer while backing. Beds were firm but comfortable. There was only 1 electric outlet in the room & that was in the bathroom. Lighting was dim with only one small light between the beds & one over a desk/dresser. Wi-Fi was weak or non-existent in the room. Price is definitely based on location not on room amenities.

“What a disapointment!”

Being a frequent customer of another hotel in La Paz no longer available, I had to look for an alternative while staying in that city. I would say that the disappeared hotel wasnt 5 stars, but it was clean, and the staff was extremely courteous. They really knew how to make you feel at home. Having in mind the idea that being not far from the other hotel, La Perla would be my second best choice, I made reservations to spend one night there. Oh well... There was a lot to be desired: Beds didn't feel clean, the general aspect of the room assigned to me was filthy. It felt like staying on a cheap "poke'n Go" road motel, but this property was noisy at all times (not noise from the street, but staff talking in the corridors, and customers passing up and down as well). The hotel provided a small "refrigerator" mounted on a very precarious steel structure, not plugged (empty off course). What a concept of a mini bar!. The bathroom was filthy, and I could be on and on saying negative things about this hotel. Don't let yourself be fooled by the outside building. the rooms are not worth what they charge for it.

“Pay attention to your credit card”

After a three night stay in the hotel I started getting unauthorized accruals in mexican pesos on my credit card.
It's the only place where I used my credit in Mexico.
I thought it was trustworthy...

“Old and Expensive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

The hotel is quite old, it needs a remodelation. It has a small pool, and the beach is just across the street. The restaurant is not good, the service there is bad and food is bad as well. If I had to go to La Paz again, it would be here if they do a little make up in the hotel, if not, I would stay in another one.

“Very expensive, better value elsewhere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

We stayed at La Perla for 3 nights. The hotel is very smart and well maintained, however, I did have to ask them to turn the hot water on! The staff are friendly and professional. The hotel also has it's own swimming pool and an external balcony area where you can enjoy beautiful views of La Paz bay and the malecon.
What spoiled the stay for us was the noise at night time. We did not get one full night of sleep, either people having party's or loud televisions, that is what caused us to look elsewhere.
The hotel is probably well suited to young party people!
