“Nice location at the right price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I have stayed in Hotel Perla twice in the past several months. The best part about it is the location in the middle of the malecon. The rooms come complete with a refrigerator. It is near several very good restaurants. Be warned that some rooms might be noisy because it is near several late night eating and entertainment establishments. If you can score a room near the pool, it will be very quiet.

Room Tip: Rooms around the pool.

“For the Mother of God - STAY AWAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This hotel is in a great location and looks fine, but it is impossible to sleep there because they have an extremely noisy club in the basement that will drive anyone utterly crazy unless you are deaf. I called the reception 6 times and each time I told them to turn the music off to let us sleep and both the clerk and the manager promised to do so immediately - each time, but never did. At 3.30 am we got fed up and left the hotel. I hated this hotel because they do not let you sleep and they repeatedly lie you in the face. The sound proofing is of course non-existent. With sound proofing they could have a noisy club and hotel guests simultaneously - not exactly rocket science to most people, but when is this hotel management going to get it? I strongly recommend you go elsewhere and ignore this horrible hotel.

“Ok place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Hotel Perla is an ok place to stay. I think that the location is how they can charge the $100 room rate. Pool area is nice, but rooms are non-exceptional. Something a little off about how the staff treats customers, on the edge of indifference.
The continental breakfast ticket is nice, for a coffee and some toast at the restaurant next door. Wireless internet was slightly weak.
I do like how I can step out from the hotel lobby, and the waterfront is across the street. Daytime view is a nice beach area, evenings with a wonderfully active malecon filled with people and vendors.
Valet parking is free and nice to have a secure place for your vehicle, a major plus to a very busy area. On street parking is difficult at times.

“Worth a stay”

Stood at this hotel while on a fishing trip. Good beach front location, Just need to cross the street and the water is right there. Its centered along the main stip area. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, and other businesses of interest. Wasn't really here to site see, so can't comment on that. Wireless net is free, although i did have trouble in the room. Kept having to reset it on my mac. In the lobby area can get good reception though, even though it still may need to be reset a few times as well. The pool is small n quaint but does the trick if you don't want to be in the baja water. rooms were clean and even had a mini fridge in the ones i saw (doors were open when being cleaned).

Younger crowd (teens) is out in early evening when temps start to cool, while the older (mid 20s+) crowd seems to come out around 10p. Its feels safe to walk the beach front area where its crowded, but venturing beyond 2 blocks or so may start to seem sketchy as it gets desolate and dark though there are a few bars in the area as well.

The hotel has an adjacent club that gets busy on fridays and saturdays, As front desk for drink tickets if they don't give you one. Cost is $5 and shorts are ok for admission. The adjacent restaurant is good as well and has tasty mahi mahi ceviche.

Spa wasn't working at time which is why I gave it bad remark.

Room Tip: You can ask for Ocean front room. They will also serve food to you by the pool or on the veranda.

“This place is perfect for the area!”

I have been to this hotel 5 times, and am booked again next week. I enjoy fishing and relaxing in La Paz, and this place has it all.

It is not a five star hotel by any means. It is simple, but classic. Clean, very attentive staff and help. The location is the number one place to be - Right on the boardwalk across from the water. Central to all La Paz has to offer. Jaccuzi does not work, and the pool slightly cool, but for this part of the world, a really great place. With some effort, you can stay for $60/night. Rooms with the view of Malecon are slightly noisy, as the main street is busy until very late. I am a five star hotel kind of a guy. This part of the world is not the place for a five start resort. IF you have cause to be needing a nice place to stay in the Central part of La Paz - you will not ge dissappointed.

I have fished all over, and enjoy La Paz more than Cabo. If you like to fish , charter a boat with David Jones of Fisherman's Fleet. They are close to hotel, have great captains, and we always catch fish. David Jones can book you a room at La Perla for $60!!!!! Have the time of your life!
