Over the years I've stayed here at least a half dozen times and it has always been enjoyable. The rooms are perhaps a little "rustic" but that just adds to the charm of the place and what the heck? It's Mexico! If you want over the top luxury, go to the Bellagio in Vegas! The rooms are split level, have a bar to sit at with a small fridge, microwave and a sink. The rooms we've stayed at have balconies that face the street and I've always liked sitting out there before the evening starts having a beer and watching life in Ensenada go by. The beds are not the most comfortable but they are suitable and anyhow as I get older most hotel room beds bother me!

A small word of warning: the rooms that are closest to the disco can be pretty noisy in the evening but I've only noticed it at the rooms adjoining the disco. Otherwise I have always found it relatively quiet and felt very safe there.

We're coming back down within the next month and I'm already really looking forward to it!

had a pleasant experience from the desk clerk to cleaning staff. WiFi friendly in room, pool-nice. Best Western had a promo where you book two nights and 3rd was freee, that of course, was a plus!!!
The hotel is in a great location. You can walk to Papas and Beer, restaurants and shops. Hussongs Cantina has tuesday and thursdays 2 for 1 beer promo all day and night. Nothing to do with the hotel but Mango Mando pub has beer for a dollar on tuesdays....
The pool in the hotel is not heated and the water it is cold.
Our room was located on the second floor and somehow we heard lots of noise from ??? thumping /bass ???
Restaurant had good food and be sure to ask for special menu ... coffee, juice, warm bread and main dish for eight dollars....

A Best Western? I would call it a Worst Western.
My husband and I stayed at the El Cid on Dec. 25, 2009. We were given what seemed to be a nice room on the main drag in Ensenada. Except for the TV not working and the bathtub being dysfunctional, the room was OK. However, at midnight, the nightclub two doors down kicked into high gear. Have you ever tried to sleep with Nortena music blasting in your ear? At 2 a.m., I went to the front desk and asked the clerk if he could please do something. He shrugged his shoulders and told me, "This is Mexico." An hour or so later, he rang our room and offered to give us another room. So, we moved to a room that was indeed much quieter but icy cold. (Yes, it does get cold in Mexico in the winter.) The heater did not work and we had only a thin blanket on the bed.

At this point, there was not much to do but suffer it out until the morning. When we checked out, I talked to Eduardo at the desk and told him that I was very unhappy about our experience. I asked him why the hotel had put us in a room that they knew would get loud music all night. Eduardo stared at me blankly and said, "Cash or credit card?"

Whatever you do, stay somewhere else.

We got there not knowing what it was going to be like, after reading so many review we were afraid where to go. We decided to stay here and it turned out to be a great place to stay, it was quiet, and comfortable. We stayed in room #517 San Jeronimo. The staff was nice and helpful. We got a flat tire and one of the maintance person took the tire to get it fixed. The room was cleaned while our stay there and they did a great job!! The food at the restaurant was so good, so good that we had breakfast there two days in a row and dinner, the food was so fresh and servers really nice....
After we checked out, we wanted to do some shopping and we were able to leave our car there until we were ready to leave.
