At the end of April 09, I booked a 2 night stay at Washingborough Hall in September for a Birthday Gift for my girlfriend, based on the other reviews I had read on Tripadvisor.

While booking this stay I have to admit I have never know such freindly staff, they appear to be going out of their way to ensure that my stay was perfect as I had mentioned that this was a Brithday Present & wanted to keep it a secret. They went as far as calling me twice since I booked to confirm some of the finer details that I had requested as part of the surprise.

Imagine my surprise when I recieved an email the other day telling me my Booking had been cancelled. When I called them they said that they had double booked some rooms due to an error by one of the other receptionists. When I pointed out to her that she had taken the booking, all she said was that she apologised for the error, and suggested using Branston Hall.

It appears to me that the hotel has recieved a booking from someone who has insisted on taking every room for a function (eg a wedding) & with times being tuff for hotels went for the guranteed income & forget other customers who had made arrangements for their stay with them.

I have to say I am still disapointed in not being able to stay here, as the first impressions were excellent & their restaurant appeared to be of a high standard. But as I cannot afford to be let down again will never ever be booking to stay at Washingborough Hall.

Be careful unless you dont mind being messed around.

My partner and I recently stayed at Washingborough Hall. Upon arrival the sight of a skip in the car park made my heart sink. When booking my partner was not informed that extensive refurbishment was currently being carried out. Apart from 3 sofas in the very cramped lobby there was nowhere to be able to go and sit to relax or have a quiet drink as a wooden partition had been erected.

We were told on Check-In that there was no reception staff at night so if you intended to go out and return after 11p.m. you had to remember the code for the front door and take your room key with you. That wouldn’t have been so bad if it wasn’t attached to the most enormous plastic keyring known to man with the name of the Hotel plastered all over it. Surely if the new owners only have 26 rooms it would have been much easier to install a coded key card system that would easily fit in a wallet if there was no night staff? This is the 21st Century afterall.

My partner booked us an Executive Room and I have to say I am glad he did from what I hear about the size of the Standard Rooms. The only difference with the Exec Rooms is that they are slightly bigger and you have a very old Spa Bath in the bathroom! There was nasty stained yellow very old lining paper in the chest of drawers, a big stain on the chair provided in the room and most disturbingly a stuffed bear on the bed that greeted us on arrival in our room with a note that said, “I am Washy Bear and you can adopt me, ask at Reception”!! What on earth?? Simple things like painting the wall where they had removed the old TV bracket were sadly lacking, as was the use of a duster on the rails in the wardrobe obviously! The Channel 4's Hotel Inspector would have had a field day at this hotel.

The facilities and especially the décor, from the nasty velour wallpaper which is everywhere to the old fading covered lampshades are very out of date. It all resembled something out of a filmset off an episode of Fawlty Towers from the 1970’s!

Worst of all about our stay was that our “Executive Room” was situated over the Kitchens so from approx 6.45a.m. both mornings that we stayed there you could constantly hear banging, crashing and lumping that seemed to make the bed move. Sleep was simply not an option. We mentioned this when we checked out and we were simply told, work had been done to strengthen the floors/ceilings already and this would hopefully get better in time. That didn’t really help us during our stay though.

Breakfast was the saving grace for this Hotel. It was lovely and the waitress remembered the next morning what we would be ordering. A hearty breakfast that set you up nicely for the day. They just need to not play the random music while you are eating.

All in all it is a quaint place but for the money you could do a lot better. Try Branston Hall down the road if you want luxury, not here.

This is a lovely hotel in a wonderful location. The ground floor facilities - lounges and dining rooms - are very spacious and luxurious. Our bedroom, however, was very small and the bathroom was not only the smallest we have ever encountered but was also very tired and in need of refurbishment. We booked over the internet and if booking again, would deal direct with the hotel in order to ensure a larger room. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly.

Last minute decision for a one night break walking around Lincolnshire. Got an excellent rate, beats all those "Inns" and "Lodges" hands down! My only complaint was that I didnt eat in the restaurant and after sampling the the breakfast, we should have! Lots of comfy sofa's and chairs around and a tiny bar that looked like one could settle down all night with a glass or two. Standard room was a bit on the small side but absolutley fine otherwise. En-suite could do with a lick of paint but now I'm being picky! Definately one I would return to when in the area and then I'll eat in!

A really sweet privately owned Hotel just outside of Lincoln.
Very friendly staff, deeply cute bedroom! As a lone traveller I had a single room up in what I guess would have once been the servants quarters. Really sweet room, very small but did me perfectly well.

No remote for TV which was a pain when you were in bed all wrapped up and warm.

I dont think they do room service, but I was a late arrival and so rang en route and asked if they could do me a sandwich in my room when I arrived, and they had no problem with that

I do just think it was overpriced. I feel mean saying that because it was very sweet... but overpriced.
