I'm sorry it's taken me from Christmas until now to write my review - however I AM still probably carrying some of the weight I put on, so haven't completely forgotten you!

What a fabulous time we had, the food was really lovely, so many difficult choices to make and the menu kept changing so there was no way we could get bored with the food. As always the staff were helpful, charming, attentive when required and we appreciated that they had given up time over their Christmas so that we could enjoy ours.

It did seem as though the bar prices had gone up quite a bit since our last visit, but other than that, whilst a Christmas visit is a fairly expensive package, you could see why that was with the quality of food and the number of staff working.

My partner and I decided to treat each other to a stay here as a Christmas present. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. The hotel is full of little personal touches such as the personalised DVD recommendations and sherry guides - not to mention the thorough suggestions and advice on what to see and do. But, of course the food was the centrepiece: simply perfect meals with incredibly polite and friendly service.

This was a Christmas present and amongst the best we have ever had. Stayed two nights in January and in a "Best Garden" room which was nice size and lovely and warm. The bed was comfy, the ensuite nicely done and the toilet soap exquisite (We bought some for home at the local shop) The ambiance througout and the food were of the highest quality and we will be looking to visit again in the summer. The log fires in the bar and dining rooms were a complete joy. We are a North of England couple who have been brought up to expect and enjoy a hearty breakfast. The Crown and Castle offering deliciously defeated us both. Highly recommended

We spent 2 nights here in October 2011 and we had a fabulous time. The room was lovely and comfortable with a view of Orford Castle from the bathroom. Bathroom toiletries were beautiful and we have since purchased the soap for home from the website. We had a room in the hotel as opposed to the garden. We had dinner in the hotel on both nights and the food was fabulous. The dressed crab as a starter on the Saturday night was the best I have ever had. The service was impeccable and we would definitely return. We did a lot of walking throughout the weekend and if the weather had been miserable we would have driven out to various places locally to explore but there was no need. Two really good restaurants / pubs in the village for lunch too.
