The hotel and our room was adequate enough, and as usual at PI we had a very good night's sleep - which I suppose is a major factor. The carpet in the hallway to the room seemed rather ageing and had a less than pleasing odour. What I do not understand is why the adjacent restaurant (formerly pleasant enough as the Roundstone, even before the hotel was built) could be left in need of so much work. It is very tatty in parts and nowhere near the standard we had previously experienced at other Premier Inn locations. It may have been my imagination yet the attitude of the restaurant staff seemed to reflect this somewhat seedy environment, and with our food being over-cooked and over-salted it was definitely not up to PI's usual high standard . Yes we had just stayed at a fairly new Premier Inn in Ramsgate, however at Littlehampton PI we were disappointed for the first time. Presumably because it was New Year's Eve, we had been unable to book any discounted rate and consequently had hoped for better, but it was not! So having tried the restaurant the previous evening, in the morning we left early, drove to the PI at Brighton and ate breakfast there, which I gladly report was a much more pleasing experience.
