“Northumberland in the spring”

We stayed in the 'Stable'. A small self contained barn conversion in the garden opposite the main Hotel. There were also the 'Barn' and the 'Hay Loft'. We liked the space: open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. Up a few steps to bed room and down a few steps to bath room/ dressing room. Embleton itself is quite nice with a golf course, lovely beach and good walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. There are lots of nice places to visit a short car ride away such as Alnwick casle and gardens, Bamburgh Castle, Cragside, Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands and Chillingham Cattle.
The beakfast is very good and in the evening you can eat in the bar or the restaurant. The menu is not huge and I always think that with a smaller choice you may be getting freshly cooked food. You could go self catering but I enjoy being looked after.
Almost every one we spoke to at the hotel had been there several times before and I think that that is a good recommedation. We have been for two years running and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stays and all Northumberland has to offer.

Room Tip: As I stated at the begining we stayed in the Stable and the Hay Loft looked similar. The Barn may b...

“relaxing get away !”

We have stayed here on many occasions but have only found the time to review this lovely little place now !

We decided to get a last minute couple of nights away to somewhere 'Dog friendly' and having stayed here before decided to book again.

Although the Hotel itself does welcome Dogs in it's very nicely appointed rooms, we usually book one of the lovely little cottages situated across the road from the hotel itself. These are available in the Summer months as Hotel suites which is an excellent idea, and I believe they are available as self catering units out of season.

We have been lucky to stay in all three of the cottages now and each one is very comfortably furnished, spotlessly clean and spacious, which is great when you have a large Dog with you !!

The Hotel itself is always spotlessly clean and well maintained but a little 'traditional' in Decor but lovely all the same.

The food is of a good standard, served promptly by very pleasant staff in either the hotels dining room or bar area.

All in all a very peaceful and relaxing stay suitable for couples or families wanting to explore the local area and very close to a beautiful beach and links Golf course for those of you daft enough to want to chase a small white ball round a field with a stick. I personally would prefer to walk along the breathtaking beach to the lovely little pub round the cove at Low Newton by the Sea, but that's a whole different review !

“2nd visit - even better”

This was our second visit to the hotel and we were even more satisfied this time. The first visit was during the summer, and this second visit was October. What a lovely time of year to be in this area!

Our room (this time we upgraded to a cottage) was exceptionally well prepared, and service was excellent--with a level of attention to detail that is often lacking even in the 5 star/corporate hotels. The location couldn't be better for visiting Alnwick, walking along the nearby beaches, visiting the castle, or taking up any number of adventure activities.

We were really happy with the restaurant variety, quality local food and well chosen wine options. Excellent value. We wouldn't have come back if we weren't happy the first time, and this 2nd time just makes us want to come back again next year.

Stayed 4 nights at this hotel in September. Rooms and facilties very comfortable, food good and short half mile walk to lovely beach. Good hotel in small village but close enough for visiting Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island and, if your minded, Edinburgh.

Room Tip: We had a village room which was bigger than standard room.
