“Fantastic All Round wedding service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My daughter and son-in Law's wedding was greatly enhanced by the service and location of this hotel. I think Ruth's comments were definately contridictory to our experience. I am an extremely fussy eater and the food was first class. There was a great selection for breakfast even if you did not want the 'full English'. The staff were all helpful and polite. The rooms were light, airy, warm and comfortable. I cannot fault our experience and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

“Our Wedding, The Most Perfect Day Of Our Lives”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

As the title states it was the most perfect day of our lives thanks to the hard work and effort from the staff at the Grovefield! From the moment we walked in we knew this is where we wanted our wedding reception, the first impression was just pure class and the friendliness of the staff and the reassurance from our wedding co-ordinator just sealed the deal and from then on we knew we had made the right choice. All the help, advice and hard work from our wedding co-ordinator for the months leading up to the wedding helped us no end. We felt even up to the end of our wedding day we was constantly informed of what was going on, which made our day run as smoothly and stress free as it could of. The food was out of this world and the serving of this was excellent this is thanks to the master of ceremonies who again was there informing us at every step. The majority of our guests stayed and not one of them had any complaints about their rooms or the service. We too thoroughly enjoyed the bridal suite!! All of our guests ranging from 6months to 80 years old had nothing but positive things to say about the day. We feel we were given first class treatment that resulted in the "PERFECT DAY OF OUR LIVES" thank to all the staff that made this happen.

“Excellent wedding venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

My daughter and her husband got married there last week - and we had a brilliant time.
Good compliments from our staying and visiting guests –the hotel accommodated us by getting in speciality beer - which went down a treat - so much so that we ran out - just glad they got it in, in the first place - thanks!!

The staff were friendly, food was fantastic, the venue was clean and rooms very comfortable - not that we spent a lot of time in there as we were too busy partying.

Thanks for all your help and support

“Wedding”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Its such a shame as this hotel is set in a very pretty part of burnham, however the htel is not set up to cope with a hotel full of young wedding guests. Booking the hotel for a wedding we were advise that our every need would be catered for. What a lie!! Ran out of Ale within 4 hours of the wedding celebrations commceing, even though the reques by the family hosting the wedding was to ensure that there was evnough and any left over would have been purchased. The bar was closed early and the staff were not up to the standrad you would expect in such a hotel.
Over all very disappionted and would never book a wedding there again!!!

Room Tip: Don't book here rooms are very cold!!!!

“Not geared to the business traveller”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I was nominated to try this hotel for my company, as a large multinational we need to be sure which local hotels we can confidently recommend for senior managers from abroad as well as our UK team members visiting local offices. My visit did not get off to a good start.

The single receptionist was on the phone and did not acknowledge me. Her call was a business one, not a personal one but I still expected an apology for the delay when she finished. This was not forthcoming.

My room was fine, very comfortable and had everything I could want. I did, however, talk to someone who had requested a quiet room and was put next to the lift. The same receptionist had assured her that the lift was the other side of a door (doors right next to a room are almost as bad as a lift) but failed to mention that the lift operated directly behind the bed headboard once through the door and in the room. As the hotel was far from busy I fail to understand why this wasn't addressed without having to get to the stage of a room change - most inefficient.

The restaurant was fine, worryingly quiet rather like the hotel. One young man seemed to have to run the bar and the restaurant so I often had to wait for service in one or the other. He was, however, extremely charming and helpful unlike the receptionist.

Breakfast was first class and the service excellent.

Check out was much easier than check in with three staff on duty in reception. The lady I dealt with was properly trained and clearly knew her job unlike the receptionist on check in the night before. I do feel the hotel should realise how important a receptionist is: allowing the lady with the black eye to be the only customer facing person on their check in was not a good idea. Her attitude and proficiency left a lot to be desired.

Would I recommend the hotel? I couldn't recommend it for use in my own company, just not efficient enough for what could be a very large number of people. For a leisure break it would probably be fine.

Room Tip: INSIST that your room is not near the lifts.
